What I get from this is the girl grabs the gun because she hears her abusive boyfriend come home and knows he'll rape/beat her.

Micron .005 and .01, mostly, with a Sakura .07 for the borders. I really should have lettered by hand, but my handwriting is loopy and hard to read...
Oh, and I'm working on regular 8.5x11' paper, Wausau 'Exact Index' - it's reasonably cheap and reasonably bleed-proof and I really need to get to the office supply store to buy more soon.

Heh... here's a tip on hand-lettering, then. You're not doing "handwritting". What you are doing is drawing individual letters. If you can get that mindset, you can draw any sort of letter without it looking a thing like your handwriting. My own handwriting is an illegible scrawl partly inspired by the Lord of the Rings scripts. But even if most of my inking is messy (gah, why won't it be unscratchy?!) I can do legable lettering.
Bleedproof paper would be good, yeah. Is a .01 smaller than .005? How are you filling in your solid blacks? If you're using a .005 or something, that'd take forever... heh... >.>

Oh, I do the solid blacks on computer! Small spaces, I'll fill in with the .01, which is a little larger than the .005. But large ones, I just make sure the edges connect, select, and fill.
For commissions, I fill the big blacks in with sharpie marker before sending them off. I kill about one sharpie per two pages inked that way.

...Ooooh. Lol. Yeah. I don't like Sharpies, because their black isn't really black (it's purple!), so I sort of generally awkwardly try filling in large black spaces with a brush. Really, REALLY big ones on a computer. Never really occured to just leave any large spaces and make sure they had lines around them... heh. But then, I'm not a photoshopper (lack the program...) and don't have a tablet, so I generally do as much as I can by hand.

Oooh, super market religious candle! I love those things. I used to have many before I moved (I left them with my friends mom because I didn't want the glass breaking in the truck). The panel to the far-right in the middle is adorable.

this page is fantastic, the "thunk" sounds of the boot really make the page come alive, great storytelling...unfortunately, the computer lettering shatters the illusion the fantastic illustrations create
