Description
I was asked to create an image and some writing for an artbook that will display 'challenges' given to several artist. My challenge was to depict a fear of mine.I chose one of my irrational fears (since I have several) which is that I would fall asleep on a bus or train and someone would creep up behind me and cut off my ponytail.
As a result I always sit slightly to the side or put my hair up in a bun if I notice someone behind me on a bus or train.
I know it's silly! But so it is

And i spent the entire trip leaning forward with my hair all tucked into my beret (it's down to my hips XD)

I have the same fear! I go out with my hair in a bun for safekeeping as well. A friend of mine had a section of her hair BURNED by a wacko sitting behind her on the bus.

I have that same fear because my hair goes past my bottom and many people always tell me I should cut it and donate it. I never could, though, I've had it too long to part with.

I think it is so rude of people to tell you to cut off your hair for charity. It's like people telling you to donate money to charity. Why don't they mind their own business?
Next time some prat suggests you cut off your hair you should ask them whether they're donating their bone marrow or kidney to people in need. I mean after all, we get two kidneys right? And plenty of bone marrow.

Because it's generally rude to ask people to do charity! Even telling people ti guve money is rude... why they think they should inform people to cut their hair and that this is somehow NOT rude, is beyond me!

Some years ago some idiots actually cut some of my sister's hair off on the school bus.

I have blonde hair that's about 4 inches past my waist now, and I'm -terrified- someone will come by and cut it off in my sleep. I almost always keep it pinned up to my head with clips if I'm on a bus or if I will be traveling with other people like my band.

Most of my hair is kept shoulder length or just under my ears. But I've got a braid on the side of my head that I've been growing out for almost 8 years now and I'm very attached to it. I'm always horrified when people tell me that I should cut it. My friends hair dresser even threated me, that if I were to ever go into her shop she'd hold me down to cut it off!
I used to have a reacurring nightmare of something similar to your fear... And I think that your piece of art has re-awoken my own on a whole new level.
