Phew I guess today I just needed a break from environments. Started out as a lunch time doodle, in the end it probably clocks in at around 90 minutes.Lately I'm really enjoying the whole mech thing, it's well possible that you will see more of that nature soon. But this is really new territory for me, so any critiques are much appreciated.
This is definitely inspired by John Park's work, that guy is fantastic!
And I hope that I will get to finish some new personal pieces soon, stay tuned! =]

I actually like the grittiness of it yet the details are there (it looks really detailed for a 'sketch') <--quoted because your sketch is way better than my finished pieces lol

I suppose that's because many of them are indicated =] And also at that point I had already done a few sketches in my sketchbook, so I was not totally unfamiliar with the subject matter

the shadow on the ground suggests their is outdoor light coming in midday?.. maybe some cooler highlights on the mech guy? I'm guessing you put him in the lighting you wanted though if you can do this work in that time. Looks like you have the understanding along with all the creativity for stuff like this. Really nice. How about some babe decals or paintings / decorations /
and stuff? give us a hint to who is inside.

Hey, thanks a bunch for the detailed comment! Yeah I did not really give too much attention to lighting at all, to me this was more about the actual design itself, the shapes and functionality. Which I am sure can still be improved
The decals and such are a good point though, that would definitely give the whole thing a more grounded feel

Which blows my mind even more because, despite it being a rough piece, you can still see light and shadow and detail. I've always been envious of people who can draw and paint

I did, yeah. What is the world coming to? It's just that, normally, when you see mechs here on dA, they're usualy brimming with weapons.

I only have analog drawing tools available at the moment (ie. pencil and paper), but I guess if I can find some cool references, I could still give it a go. We'll see, work still has to come first, sadly.

well I am currently filling my sketchbook with mech drawings, so I don't see why you can't do it
