I haven't uploaded other pictures I've done for Darryl before, save from this dwarven cleric I did in 2016:Β www.deviantart.com/memymine/arβ¦Cricket is a character in Darryl's sci-fi/Space Opera setting. He is a battlefield medic and the only member of his species in his group. His friends have nicknamed him Cricket because of his resemblance to an insect and his usually cheerful attitude. The spear is a cultural thing. He has flicker shields on all of his 4 arms that he can turn on at will, and a pair of knives and blasters for self defence.
I did some design sketches and another pose of him but this is my favorite of the set. The shield and blaster have elements from references sent by Darryl.

Thanks! I had a lot of things to consider when the client sent me the brief description. I told him I'll need to first make concepts for the design of the species itself. In the end we had one sheet of body plan concepts, one sheet of outfit designs, and one for color schemes for both, before getting to the stage of making any pose sketches for the actual illustration.

To be fair, the commissioner never mentioned what species the rest of the party is. It's only implied that at least some of them are human. Theoretically there could be some really scary guy out there.
