Description A trail through some lush bluebell woods in the Chilterns in Oxfordshire, England. Took a bit of patience and a few exposures to freeze the motion of the swaying branches in the foreground but eventually I got my shot just in time before the light faded

Interesting to note compared with my last submission how the bluebells here really do appear blue since they're in the shade rather than the light, which tends to turn them a more magenta colour.

I'm open to more inspired title suggestions by the way!

Your patience paid off for you, the end result being a superb capture. This shot cries out England and spring time, woodland walks and birds singing. The foreground foliage leads you into the frame, the pathway leading through a carpet of bluebells between the coppiced trees. The composition is superb and you have done a masterly job with the bluebells. They are so difficult to reproduce faithfully their colors, and you have succeeded with this. Excellent work indeed and makes me really quite homesick for the English countryside. Simon

so glad you like them, I'd be most happy to sort you out with some prints! ... I handle all my printing myself so I can inspect, approve and sign them, I couldn't imagine putting my name to something someone is going to enjoy on their wall for years to come without having held it and scrutinised the details to make sure it's up to my standards.... this is the main reason all print sales are through my website and why I trust my images to some of the UK's most experienced colour technicians

here are links to the images, do let me know if you'd like any "special" options (e.g. canvas, metallic etc etc)... hopefully hear from you soon!

last year, we were by that castle - I think Windsor - the one with a funny broken spiral staircase to heaven i love British country side - and miss it continuously

oh sweet, yeah that's only an hour or two down the road... went there many years ago but can't remember the details of any broken staircases! think there were some crown jewels there or something though... but yeah on a nice day the British countryside is lovely, don't be a stranger now

yup yup! brought back just over 500 images before editing/blending.. probably condense down to about 5 portfolio images and a lot of stock! camping was a piece of piss and the waterfalls/woods were unbelievable, twas like a little photographers theme park figured I can basically do it for free and in relative comfort if I sleep in the car (leather seats recline all the way as it turns out, score!), so will definitely be considering a return journey for autumn colours. posted one shot already but it's more of a detail than a location shot. heading back to the Chilterns later, should be able to catch a last few days of bluebell shooting too, not that I need any more of those shots but there's always a better one out there!

One of the very best bluebell shots I have ever seen. Such as shame that the sunstar is a bit of a bloated one

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Meowgli In reply to Alex37 [2011-05-03 12:05:47 +0000 UTC]

wow quite the compliment, thanks Alex. gah I do agree, I'm getting sick of the sunstars from the Sigma... my Tamron 28-75 makes excellent ones almost along the lines of the 16-35 but unfortunately a lot of the time it's not wide enough for my purposes... great sharp lens though. I guess the way around it would be to shoot a designated exposure for the sunstar at f/22, get that sunstar on a bit of a diet in future
