Description A painted lady pretending to be a mod pretending to be a painted lady!
So I had this picture frame I found in the garbage, with all sorts of doo dads glued to it and pink polka dots. I stripped off and used elsewhere all the little doohickeys, leaving me with this oddly shaped frame. Whelp, It kept popping back into me 'ead that it sorta resembled the block off for a foyer of the Victorian or Craftsman styles. So's I cut off the bottom bit, glued it into this odd wooden thing I found in someone's trash, and started a mod in a Victorian project, because I shall never bow to the masses of Victorian-centric miniaturists, mwahaha! Anyway, the whole time, I tried for something sorta like what a mod woulda made had he been aiming for Victorian. (Albeit the wallpapers that seem so psychedelic are actually just Art Nouveau.)
Now dig the centrally located doorknob. Those are so fantastic, wonder why they are no longer done?

I do realize that it is very heavily patterned, and somewhat overdone, but I still dig this project. Hell, I'd live in a room like this, albeit larger.
This project would be the first time that I ever upholstered a kit piece with the fabric provided in the box, but that is because the fabric is so awesome and so appropriate for this.
Also the first time I ever glued down a Renwal or a similar manufacturer/period piece of plastic furniture. This one would prolly be valuable, too, if it had still had the clock face and candle chimneys. Ah well.

Lessee, the wallpaper with the big flowers is actual fullsize 1960's wallpaper, ripped offa Grandma's wall when she was remodeling. The rest is from the free Dollhouse wallpaper site. The wood-look wall segment behind the mantel is from an old AC, and the pediment is the top of a trashed piece of doll furniture, sanded and stained. Chair is the kit piece, but I elected to leave off the wings. Blue and white rug is an old woven yarn thing Mom thought she had thrown away. Floor in the other room is from a Barbie house. Pediment over foyer and the front door are both from the same switch plate. Beaded necklace dangling. Plastic flowers in sill. Full size bud vase for ornamentation ('cause mods'll do that), and a doll-size jug for a brolly stand. Jewelry finding hangs over mantle. Ribbon and chunk of trim frame the door. Chunk o' picture frame crowns the mantel wall. And there's a Mirano glass kitty on the floor in the living room next to the purchased Dollhouse firescreen. Oh, and the doorknob is a jewelry finding for the back, and a piece of a piece of a pen stand for the knob.
And of course, Sharpie'd acetate for the windows in the door.

the armchair is awesome, but it's standing back to the watcher. It's bad feng shui

Ah, but if you lived there, would you wish your favorite armchair to face away from the fire?
The layout ignores the viewer in some ways and lends preference to the resident.

I'd put the armchair more on the left, and with a.. maybe 30 grade.. and then I could watch the fireplace and the people coming
