Description Although brilliantly designed, the Bell P-39 Airacobra became one of the most controversial American aircraft of WWII. It later served with the Soviet Frontal Aviation with distinction.

This drawing represents the aircraft "NIP'S NEMESIS" flown by Lt. Don McGee out of Port Moresby, New Guinea, June 1942.

This piece was created in Illustrator CS and is entirely vector.

The shading was rendered using the blend tool between different vector shapes, and a some use of the gradient and transparency tools.

They say controversial about many (war) machines (as well as keep saying about any civil contemporary vehicle). I think it is always a balance of some personal preferences.

I used to not like this plane (at my early modeling years ) but I now find it very interesting design.

In favor of this plane I can say that Aleksandr Pokrishkin liked it a lot! It was a reliable plane in good hands.

And good work! You’ve got your own technical illustration style. I think, it’s important

Any plans to 'paint' it in Pokrishkin’s colors

I am not sure I have that many Stars!

Pretty sure I can be talked into a VVS version.

They also very prevalent is Sonoma county (where I live) for air defense and training during the war.

I never did not like this plane!
