a while back I spent 5 minutes scribbling out this concept, intending to make it nicer later on-

lol it sucked hard
and last night I tried to work on a commission, got fed up, and needed to do something else. I started working on this. got a lot done, but finished it today. It's been a long time since I spent less than 24 hours on a picture....
I'm amazed that nothing pissed me off and got me stuck haha this was rather seamless
I just made his design up as I went along, so it's not really official or anything
it's Mason, taking a void and filling it with dust, and from the dust constructing a city.

haha my brother looooooves that band. I never quite understood why.. until now. I like that song better than a lot of the ones he tries to force me to listen to xD so maybe after hearing that song I'll be more... eh, open to the other ones.
I think that's really interesting that this picture reminds you of that song... I never got quite the same vibes from it, but I guess everyone who looks at it will see something slightly different. and that's one of the coolest things about art..

The album which contains Lionheart is probably a bit different to the other albums. If you like it, you could maybe try this one. Your brother might also be thankful for that

This is a really strong composition, with the opposing diagonals (cityscape vs. the character with crows) and white space. I love the smoky fading textures, it almost has an Asian brush painting feel. I'm also a huge fan of the rusty, bloodlike, brownish hues you used; they seem to hint at a darker theme. This just has a lot going for it. The mood is very strong. I love it.

Mason's original design made him look like a villain, even though he's like the nicest fellow in the world. I guess that mood is still a part of him X)
