Description I don't remember how long ago I started this.. many months, I think. it just feels.. so weird to think 'I'm done. I'm finally done'
it's got a lot of layers and a lot of hours and a lot of myself poured into it.
I won't whine about all the individual parts of painting this that gave me hell and made it take so long.
I just... seriously hope y'all like it.. ;-; I put so much work into this, something really original.

(he's a character of mine. name's Absence and he's a sweetie with a strange story. maybe one day I'll get around to writing it. the title is from One Armed Scissor by At the Drive-in, in case you were wondering.)

K SO YEP, COMMENTS, FAVES, whatever you got for me, all of it is greatly appreciated.. :]

Holy crap dude this...this has to be one of my favorite pieces from you so far...not only is the character beautiful but the atmosphere and the background and the detail is just pure amazing. This seriously astounds me to no end.
For starters I love this character, so simple yet unique in his own way, I love the way you drew his face, his large beak gives him personality along with that eye. Loving his hair as well, and the hat and tie! I'm very impressed with how you drew his clothing as well, the jeans look so real, all the folds and little details look awesome as well as the color melding on his white shirt from the background color reflections. Same thing with the shading and highlights on the character himself, I can tell you really paid a lot of attention to where the lighting was in the background and what color it should be to how it should be reflected on Absence himself. The little details like the slight texturing of his hair and tail and the little tufts of feathers on his elbows add so much to him. I'm also very jealous of how godly you've drawn his hands! The depth shading for his tendons and such give great anatomy to his haaaands. The tiny page details in the book are neat as well o:
The perspective of the rock wall he's sitting on is very nicely done. Love how you where able to vary the stone size depending on where they sit in the picture to make it actually look like a curving wall, and all the indivudual stone shading and highlighting looks very, very, well done.
The fire is something that really gets me in this picture, all the colors you've used along with the shaping of the fire itself is astounding. It really looks like real fire, and with that kind of texture you overlaid on it makes it look sort of like a painting. Loving the little sparks and such flying out.
The backdrop is really quite cool as well, the cooler colors you've chosen fit well with the contrast of the fire and such...really neat. That moon is especially awesome, I love the milky color and the kind of sparkle/star pattern you've detailed onto it, gives it a special kind of texture.
The building there is freaking amazing as well, I really love it's...solidity...it really stands out without being too overbearing, but all the tiny details at the edges give the building silhouette some realism and life. I can't even imagine how long that took, but your attention to minor details such as the tony ropes and wires hanging from the left side of the building and the pipes at the bottom right and the right flags and tiny little decks and balconies all up to the tower near the top left...just wow...the detailing is so tiny yet so accurate

This really is quite amazing...I love it a lot, and you should be proud of this, it's obvious through the sheer amazing I'm looking at right now how much effort and time you've put into this. Great work!

you know how much I love you right? I can always count on you to make me feel good about something I've just poured butt-tons of work into ;-; <3
haha those were meant to be clouds, idk why they're red though, i guess they do look like fire!
mm yep that building was a pain to draw, I have no idea how to draw monstrously huge tower things soooo that was an experience xD

gosh darn seriously, thank you so much, I'm really really glad you like this <3

c: I can always count on you to blow me away with your artwork. You're one of the few artists here that really inspires me to write these novel comments, but I do it to show my appreciation of such good artwork. You're very much welcome Kz <3

LOL I see that they're clouds now xD sorry about that
I guess I could throw a critique in there then, I'd add a little more of that color clouds around the back of the building silhouette, and possibly a little higher as well, so you can see that they're floating clouds...? That make sense?
Anyway, still looks freaking cool either way

ahhh yes that would make sense, add some perspective in there! I may get around to doing that.. if I can work up the enthusiasm to spend one more second on this, haha. but next time! for certain.
