yes if the snow is fresh on the ground the reflected light bounces around and brightens the day

yes that's it snow blindness can be a big problem ... Inuits use a piece of dried leather with a slit cut into it across the eyes to deal with it ... the last heaps for weeks snow we had here was winter 2010/11 ... there was ice as well very dangerous several fatalities on the local roads ... I wrote a brand new car off on black ice should have stayed in but got cabin fever and had to get out!

Yeah, snow is nice when it first falls but once it gets compressed and becomes all icy it's horrible.

very true Cressie ... the novelty soon wears off ... it was 2011/12 when we had snow here for three months and its treacherous when the ice forms underneath ... several local people were killed on the roads here that winter ... I wrote a car off on black ice trying to drive along the north coast after new year ... thing is here on the west it was warmer so the road was fine but of course drive east and its colder so ... more dangerous still here though!v

yep that winter was terrible I only set off after the cabin fever here had driven me half cream crackers! then busted my collar bone as well to spend the afternoon in a hospital at wick on the east coast before getting a train to lairg on the road south from here and having my father collect me from there to bring back the 56 miles home again what a day!   I busted that collar bone before anyhow but it was three months everything single handed for a while good reason to stay off the roads!

oh I wouldn't bother with that soliloquy its a morose view of the world Cressie... maybe the last few pages have some interest but not much ... is a disconnected garbled collection of petulant scribbles truly awful!
