Description This is a custom order from my Etsy shop; a Persian Cat in black and white with silver details. I call these "Persian" because the designs are inspired by an old Persian rug I own.

This is the first Persian Cat I've ever done in b & w. I have to say it is the most time-consuming color combination I do; it takes SO long to paint because not only does white need extra coats, but the lines have to be exactly perfect. Mistakes are hard to cover up.

Anyway, it makes a stunning mask. The b&w ones always seem almost formal and glamourous to me. I added some clear Swarovski crystals to it, for added sparkle.

As ever, this is hand carved, hand shaped 8 oz veg-tanned tooling leather. Painted with Liquitex acrylics.

Custom masks like this one can be requested only at my online Etsy shop, here: [link]

It's incredible to see your design eye at work- the color combinations and there general style all come together seamlessly. Might I add, I thought to myself that it was quite the Persian design... and it was! You did that smahsingly!

It's gorgeous! The black and white indeed makes it look a bit more formal and glamerous. And the silver of course adds to that feeling.

That is a lovely combination, alright - but I can imagine it took a long time to paint; white is really tricky.

... I kind of want to see this in some artsy b&w movie with a jazzy soundtrack.

I agree, it is really elegant-looking! I really dig your whole Persian series.
It makes me feel a bit better that black and white color schemes are a pain for even you. . . getting the white thick enough without smudging is so hard! ;_;

Do you have pictures of this mask in use?
I really like the design but I'd love to see it on someone.

It's lovely, as always. I've always been a fan of your persian pattern; one of my all time favourites is the one with the green and the brown and the gold ... but ordinary mask, not the cat one. But this one is lovely too, I love how you've put the persian pattern into the cat mask. And it works.

Beautiful as always!

I'd agree, B&W colouring seems very 'proper' and yet 'sleek'. I like the added crystals.

Depending on what other colours you have in crystals you could do the same type of colour scheme. If you had blue crystals, the white area could be painted blue(ish) . . . I don't know . . . I just like playing with colour combinations when i see stuff like this.

Thank you.

Yes, the Persian designs are great for color schemes and the combinations are endless. I've done several that you can see at this gallery: [link]

The silver really softens the contrast of the black and white, and the crystals give it just that little extra something special. I really love the curved lines on this one.

Thank you. I agree; the silver made the mask less stark. The trick with the crystals (I have learned) is to not overdo it! A few are elegant, but too many look like Elvis's Vegas Pantsuit.
