Magnificient! Your style is deft and lovely detailed, with a vivid sense of life and colourfulness that gives it remarkable a richness. I just love what you do with historical designs for fantasy purposes. Highly inspired, and inspiring for others!
Do you only work with paid commissions, or do you dabble in community collaborations from time to time as well? Please pardon me asking, but would you by any chance be interested in helping out the volunteer project known as the Ninth Age (T9A for short: www.the-ninth-age.com/ )? It is the spiritual successor of Warhammer Fantasy (and, by historically based fantasy extension, Lotr), run by 300+ volunteer contributors all tinkering in their spare time, and it aims to go even further than Warhammer did along the paths of historically based dark fantasy smΓΆrgΓ₯sbord setting: i.imgur.com/dlmQkB6.jpg
T9A is always welcoming artists who want to join their art team, and your skill and distinctive designs would be great to have on board, should you ever be interested in joining and help develop this setting by putting your own distinctive mark upon its art pool. If you would by any chance be interested in donating old artworks of yours, then here is a quick guide for T9A gallery upload of art contributions: i.imgur.com/ORLCncV.jpg
I can get you in E-mail contact with the head of their art team, if ever you're interested.
Here is T9A's beginnings of an Art Group on Deviantart, though most artists in the project have yet to sign up on DA:Β www.deviantart.com/the-ninth-aβ¦
At any rate, splendid artworks! Evocative to boot, and coloured like a dream. Have a nice day.

Thanks for the links. Unfortunately I've had less and less time for personal projects lately.

What was your inspiration for the people depicted here?

Sort of a blend of gypsy/Caucasian(Circassian etc.) and Slavic influences. The axe is very Indo-Persian.

Β Clearly the dog that isn't being spoiled rotten is looking at his master and thinking "HUNT! what do we get to kill today boss?"
Β The other dog is clearly thinking "A dog's best friend is his human!"

Northmen mixed with Easterlings... sounds like some early Russian Nordo-Slavic folk are in order here.

In the interim I have acquired the supplement this illustration is related to. Having read it, I enjoyed the Erringmen more than some of the others due this illustration, which gave a good image to go with the description.

This reminds me of the Avar or early Slav style of dress.

I like the everyday family atmosphere. I've gotten tired of always seeing Easterlings portrayed as evil.
