Sayuri's design was incredibly complex! Her kimono and fan patterns are hand-drawn.

Fun Fact: Hostage trades in feudal Japan were a very formal affair. The "hostage" was more like a guest of the host family, and was treated with respect. Hostages were either traded between families to ensure no hostilities broke out, as in Sayuri's case, or sometimes the Lord of a clan would take hostages from lower ranking families to ensure their obedience.

For our supporting cast, we wanted each character to be distinctive, so that each relationship path would play out very differently. (Replay value!) Sayuri is the cool, mysterious type whose beauty makes her seem untouchable.
Progress on the demo is coming right along! We should still be on track to release it around the end of this year/beginning of next year, as long as we don't hit any major snags (fingers crossed!).
