Description Entry for *Lauraurora 's "Tasoula the Rogue" contest to design her D&D character.

I imagined Tasoula as a plucky little halfling, but still with her fair share of deviousness. Red hair, freckles, and an attitude far out-sizing her diminutive stature. She likes gold, but she likes the challenge of getting to that gold just as much. Picking locks, disabling traps, sneaking, spying - all in day's work! And she never lets her adventuring companions forget just how essential she is to the group. Without her they'd only have half the treasure! Without her, one of them would surely be rotting in the bottom of a pit trap right now! Yes, indeed, Tasoula is truly a skilled rogue that any party would jump at the chance to have. At least, *she* certainly thinks so.

I wanted to practice some of my digital painting technique. I would have liked to try to colorize it, but the contest ends today and I have homework to do. ;_; I think it's still pretty decent in grayscale.

Halflings, rouges, lockpicks... Three of my favorite D&D stuffs in a single draw!

I think that it does look pretty good without any colour but I think that colour would add a bit more depth and life into this piece.
The focus of this piece shows you what she's like but I think my favourite thing about this picture is the pure concentration you managed to convey on her face. I don't think I could even imagine doing anything like this so you have my respect.

Thanks so much! I wish I'd given myself more time on this piece, I would have done it in color.. I'm also still figuring out the best ways to colorize my b&w pieces. So who knows, once I've got a technique maybe I'll go back to it!

I like this a lot! It should be a shoe-in for one of the top 3 prizes!

I went through all the entries and it was surprising(or not, haha) how many of them didn't make it clear at all that she was a halfling. Your picture's over-sized treasure chest and bare feet are great touches and go a long way towards telling me that this is definitely a halfling I'm seeing! If I were judging the contest, I'd probably be torn between your's and the rooftop cityscape one. I'm a little partial to the chubby halfling on the rooftop pic, but that's because I love hobbit-halflings more than 3.5's skinny halflings. Since the contest is specifically to draw a 3.5 D&D character, that's another point you got spot on!

Also the background came out great, MOAR BACKGROUNDS PLZ!
