yeah, Squall doesn't know. In that same part, if you talk to Laguna, he states that "Ellone told me everything" - which brings speculation that, since she knows of Laguna and Squall's relation, she informed him of such. He also continues on to say "There are some things you and I need to talk about". That just strengthens the likelihood that he knows already.

It's just too bad the game doesn't go into any in-depth detail as to such. Oh well...

Yeah, I would have loved to see Squall's reaction to finding out that the moron he dreamed he was was his father. XD I always adored Laguna, he was an incredibly loveable character and I felt like they could have done more with his development- at least in terms with his relationship with Squall. They built up to it with Laguna and Raine, and dropped so many hints about their relationship- and of course there was Ellone's meddling too- and then they just didn't do the final part. It was still a wonderful game, but it was sad they didn't do more on that.

Totally agree! They verify that Laguna knows of their relation at the end, even slightly - but, you're still left to wonder if he ever told Squall. Even if Squall may not warm up to the idea of Laguna being his father (or his father even still being alive) right away, it would still have been nice to know that he'd found out. Plus, wouldn't that mean he'd realize Raine was his mother? I'd have loved to see that, too!

I, too, love the game (favorite FF game ever!), but the apparently left too much to speculation. It'd have been nice for them to fully confirm one thing. Oh well...

It's my fave FF too! I really love the intricacy of the plot, and the development of the characters; I feel as if it's a really underrated Final Fantasy game because of the romance, and the fact that people are so quick to dismiss Squall as 'that lame emo guy'... But really, given that in FFVII, Cloud spent half the game in an identity crisis and being miserable and depressed and having everyone else helping him, people who worship that spikey haired guy like he's he best thing since sliced bread have a double standard! T^T

I really liked the amount of detail they put into little things in FFVII, there were so many little sidequests you could do that would just provide interesting details on the character development- for example, if you fulfill certain requirements, it's actually possible to see Rain's ghost. There's nothing you can do about it, and of course Squall doesn't react, but the little easter egg touches the player's heart. It was a really emotional game with a lot of attention to detail, I think that people who like it appreciate the smaller details, where as people who hate the game interpret in the literal sense- as a love story- and don't bother looking any deeper... Of course, there are exceptions, people will like and hate things for other reasons, but generally, the people I see who hate FFVIII have reasons that aren't valid at all. o-o

lol. you have a point about Cloud and his fan base. I like Cloud, but you're right - it's annoying how people are quick to reject Squall, yet accept Cloud. That just doesn't make sense.

But, yeah, FFVIII was good at exploring in-depth proportions of the game - giving you a bit of everyone's past at times. Not many games, that I know of anyway, will actually do that. But, yeah, it's sad that they won't actually give the game a chance. It's like "Ugh! It's a love story. Corny!" - and, they just throw it to the side. Meanwhile, the game is clearly so much more - it's got a great plot, exciting story, and the characters are so easy to warm up to. I'm aware people hate Rinoa, and Squall, but I love them both - I love them all! I really don't see how anyone can hate the game so much. It's fun, thrilling, and I find it nearly impossible to put down for an extended period of time, lol.XD

I just wish people would take the opportunity more often to look beneath the surface. They might actually be surprised if they took the time look beyond what they see at first glance, you know? Oh well...

Someone who I agree with entirely on Final Fantasy VIII? Where have you been all of my life!? We are officially friends! XD I can never find people who love that game as much as I do, who like all the characters too, and who play it often. -adds to watch-

Laguna is Squall's father but in Dissidia I think they have memory losses...
