There's a tradition here: at the beginning of the spring people go "burning witches" (usually straw dolls). It's like a closing after the reign of deadly winter, burning a doll that is substitute for Morana, Slavonic godess of death.
(Though in these modern times many people don't even know why are they doing it and where did this come from ^^ )
