In all honesty I am glad his story has an end. On the plus side though, no one is saying his many years of fighting the paranormal will not find there way to being drawn and printed.

They're still making him in more comics - it's just gonna take place in Hell. Mike said it would allow him to flow creatively instead of pull Hellboy along the rails of a story.

I read up on it after I saw this, I knew he was kicking the bucket at some point. But Mignolas still going for a finite series I hope. I wonder how many of his previous enemies will be out for some posthumous revenge.

Why do people always hope for a finite story? I mean realistically no story can go on forever, but it's like anymore most people fall in love with stories JUST to see the hero die. Is our world so dark that the only happy ending anyone will acknowledge is the death of the protagonist?
I don't know the world anymore. :/

No, nonono. I like a good ending, a point where you can say it is done, a moment where if anything comes after and you don't like it, at least the great part is safe. It's like when a movie has a sequel or a new season of a tv series starts, as long as the good that came before is safe, fair enough. Now I don't doubt Mignolas writing talent or ability and look forward to more Hellboy but when Mignola feels it's done I'll be happy. That's not to say I was happy with dead Hellboy but nothing like the bottom to climb up from.

Sucks for Hellboy fans as the beloved character had his heart torn out. Well after 18 years at Dark Horse and 2 great movies from Guillermo Del Toro, Hellboy's original comic book creator Mike Mignola felt it was time for Big Red to call it a day.

Nope, just killed Hellboy. His adventures will apparantly continue in his new home: Hell.
