it depend, the hell of harry and heather(cherryl), is a dark site with fire, blood, and more scary think's, but the hell of james or the other character of sh4, have other hell,

hell of harry and heather: fire, blood, metal, draknes

hell of james: a site with plastic in all the site, wather, mog, rain, maniquies, etc

hell of sh4: a hold place with holes in all the site, the walls are alive, gost in all the apartment, etc

i think, what is the hell of the people?

Nice comparison :3
with SH2 it was always dark places, like the apartment, hospital, prison. And Otherworld jus made it darker for the most part XD While with SH3 the walls kept changin to that weird texture. SH3 may of been noisy and just messed up but SH2 won in that "Creepy" type of silence factor. Like with the hallway scene. Maria walks calmly behind you as does PH, and if you stop they'll just stand there o.o SH1 I never really got into, so I dun know if it stayed foggy XP
