Bio: One early evening during sunset Mikey noticed a little boy leave the pet shop with a new pet turtle and while he watched him a few bullies on skateboards shoved the boy while driving past him so that he accidentally dropped the pet turtle which fell into a sewer opening at the side of the street. Since the boy couldn't reach his pet Mikey decided to go down into the sewers with Donatello, but when they found the turtle the boy was gone. What Mikey didn't know was that the boy was looking for a way down into the sewers to get his turtle back. Mikey then decided to keep the turtle as replacement for Spike and ran through the sewers to get back to the lair. On the way Donatello noticed that there was a canister of mutagen nearby but before he could do anything Mikey turned around a corner and stepped onto the canister, tripping and letting go of the turtle as he fell back, the turtle fell shell-first onto the glass which cracked and caused mutagen to spill over it. That's how the turtle mutated and became Salvador Dali, a younger mutant turtle who got taken in by Splinter and the turtles and started training with them. For a few months Sal was held in the lair and not allowed to go topside with the others until he managed to get April's support. Sal is still very inexperienced and so easily gets in trouble, but he's also very talented in using the Kusarigama so he's able to fight. The grey mask he wears stands for his inability to decide, since he is very often indecisive about nearly everything, preferring to let the others decide, no matter if it's something important or irrelevant.
The boy Sal had belonged to before had slipped in the same mutagen after getting down into the sewers and turned into a young mutant turtle called Tommy.
