Part 5. After successfully tying Griff up, Raven decided the next best logical thing for him to do would be to tie his legs together, tie a gag around his beak, *and* to take off his jacket, exposing his chest and abs.All poor Griff can do is glare at his captor, who, after finishing up and pausing to admire his handywork, tells him, "You should thank me. I've improved your looks."

Raven and the about 90% of the rest of Oberon's children really are colossal douchebags.
Raven is who Karasu is named after, but his mask is Japanese rather than Native American influenced.Β The other really well-known Native American trickster is Coyote, so being a canine, naturally, Karasu is pretty torn between who to root for.Β LOL

Yeah, pretty much. Only Raven is the only one to appear as a sexy gargoyle... and not only that, but really, all he wanted was an island to himself. I mean come on, is that really too much to ask? Now Banshee, there was a b*tch that needed to have the smackdown!
I also read on Gargoyles wikiΒ that Raven and Coyote have a rivalry going on (or that Raven is just always frustrated by Coyote), so that would make Kara's choice even harder.

Yeah, I was hoping coyote would appear like Anubis.Β Apparently also Odin was a child of Oberon, rather than an actual god like Anubis.Β Which seemed kind of WTF when I saw it in "Gathering."Β
I think the rivalry is someone's dramatic license, comes from another story or was something Greg Weisman said on a forum or at a con.Β Which, knowing Greg Weisman, probably means it's a reference to another story.Β I don't remember it being referred to in the show or in one of the SLG comics.
Karasu I would see as someone like Steve Blum in his Spike Spiegel (Cowboy Bebop) voice.Β Smooth, but snarky.Β Of course, I thought it would be a funny inside joke to have all the English voice actors for the ninja ken be actors most known for doing English dubs of anime.Β Barring, that, though, would prefer Japanese or other Asian-American actors or Japanese/Asian actors fluent and almost accent-free in English.

I had thought about her or Kelly Hu (who seems to be the go-to-girl for comic book badass-girls).Β Β I like that Lucy Liu still voices Viper on the KFP series.Β Tia Carrere and Michelle Khan/Yeoh are sounding a bit too old for the part.Β The girl who played Mariko in Wolverine, I'll have to look up more of her work.
Yeah, he and Scott Menville are able to sound perpetually like teenagers.

Rofl, no, actually, I already had an idea for a small comic touching upon their rivalry. I wanted it to be a surprise, but it'll most likely be awhile before I actually ever draw anything, so here it is:

It would feature Raven (of course in gargoyle form) going on about how he'll either have the island all to himself, or how he'll make "this new island" (aka Manhatten) his new home, only while he is ranting, Coyote, who is hiding behind a tree, suddenly pops out and creates a gust of wind that causes Raven's loincloth to flip up.

Okay, finally was able to watch the links (I couldn't watch them yesterday). I think that is a good choice for Karasu, but personally I think his voice is a bit too deep and manly. I guess I just imagined Kara would sound more boyish and sleek, since he comes off as a little immature but also somewhat sinister. Hence why I would have chosen the guy who voiced Raven. However, you are Kara's creator, and so can choose whoever should do his voice.

LOL Okay, that is funny.
He sounds youthful enough, I think.Β Also, he sounds slick and arrogant/cocky, which does fit Karasu.
My favorite (and apparently most of his fans' favorite) role of his is Lo Pan from Big Trouble in Little China; you should see it if you haven't, already.Β He seems to love doing lines from it for fans and even appeared in a fan tribute video to the character.
