Description once thought to be only a creature of myth soon became a reality when a passing airplane spoted one moving though the canapy of a rainforest. being so high up its almost impossible to be seen from the ground.
to alow it to travel so smothly in the thin branches up on the top of the trees the Rayquaza has hollowed bones much like a bird. the Rayquaza also is able to glide from tree to tree with the help of small "gliding fins" that can retrack and open up for gliding, plus the Rayquaza can flaten out its body making it thiner which allows it for a sort of flying efect. the Rayquaza is a large creature reatching a max length of 25ft and a foot thick at the thickest part.the rayquaza may look like its a large snake but if looked closly you can see two small arms both for climing and for holding prey. the Rayquaza hunts manly birds, but will sometimes disend lower to grab a mankey.
the Rayquaza killes it's prey with a nerotoxin that is injected into the prey much like a Komodo Dragons venom is injected, it seaps into the wound.

One thing, Though it is very nice, the games describe rayquaza as soaring through the upper atmosphere, not dense jungles, although this is a rather nice interpretation.

Rayquaza is actually based off of the Aztec God, Quazoltal

RadioActivePizza In reply to Mathus7 [2009-08-04 10:36:17 +0000 UTC]

Wait, wasn't it supposed to represent the Hebrew (I thought it was Hebrew) myth of Ziz?
Groudon is based of Behemoth (the land), Kyogre is Leviathan (the sea) and Rayquaza represents Ziz (the sky), I read somewhere

I thought it was Ziz too. But it could also be Quetzalcoatl.

Dude, wall of text.

Awesome design though, keeps the features of the original but looking really draconic. Makes me think Quetzalcoatl.

watzit2yu [2008-09-11 21:21:31 +0000 UTC]

a komodo dragon doesn't have venom instead it has a bacteria in its mouth that will kill an animal over a period of days instead of a nerotoxin that would take effect in a matter of minutes

at least thats what i think i could be wrong though

It only makes me wonder how pokemon like Deoxys would turn out.

MeTartara [2008-03-30 01:36:11 +0000 UTC]

I love the design, all your drawings look great.
one correction about the bio though, komodo dragons don't actually inject venom (although it has been speculated that the bit is very mildly venomous which starts infection), but they kill their prey through the poisons that bacteria living in its mouth produce. Just to make it clear.
Oh, and i really love your drawings--i was never great with real-life drawings

MetalReaper In reply to MeTartara [2008-03-30 05:54:38 +0000 UTC]

yes i know that because if u see i put this in "it seaps into the wound. "
meaning it leaks into a open wound
but thats the way they inject it.
but thanku on your imput
