Description
This is a drawing that's been on my comp for several months already...I don't have any inspiration to finish the background yet. So, I've decided to post whatever I'm already done with.This is for my friend, , who is a mighty Ayanami Rei fan
I hope you won't smack me with a bucket for sending you an unfinished version T_T...I will eventually continue on this one...I just have more fun creating pencil drawings now.
Done from a photo reference...some Japanese cosplayer posing in some weird building. [link] The girl's figure was good, but I didn't really like how her face and her wig looked. So I changed those as I worked on my version.

Now, what do you think is in my "gallery"? A bunch of blank backrounds! So it's clear that I find this kind of composition highly attractive. Do you publicly call it unfinished because you know I've seen the one you were working on? Because I really do hope you're at least a little happy with your work on this one, even if you find that you aren't as attracted to making digital art as you are to working with a pencil. This is a really good looking piece.
When I look at this picture I immediately think "chic." It just screams style. It's a combination of the pose, her clothes, and the way you colored it. It really looks good. Her pose here is so natural looking and really well done. Not awkward at all, even though it is a difficult pose to draw (at least for me...=___
Just the small touches like the color on her bottom lip or the small dash of pink around her head really make this a memorable piece, simple as the concept might be. And a lot of people draw Rei with her face towards the viewer, while here you drew her looking away. It gives me the feel that she's more mysterious, more unobtainable, though it adds to her sensuality. Just this simple looking away from the camera adds some depth and mystique to the picture.
Basically, I think it's perfect as it is. Though I know that when the inspiration hits you, you'll be able to create a fantastic backround that really fleshes out this Rei. You've finished some complicated works lately so maybe you see this as unfinished, but I love this type of "simplicity" because it makes me look deeper into the subject instead of relying on the environment they're in. Thanks for this great submission (and dedication T___T)! I hope you'll do more digital pics in the future.

Hmm...chic, you say? Now I think I should finish the pinkish BG, add a nice texture to it and make a nice wallpaper :3 Mebbe it would look better that way. Hmm. I will definitely experiment with it tomorrow, could be real fun
Actually, most of the tones were taken from the photo and slightly modified to look more...umm..Rei-like ^^' I did the drawing very thoroughly, actually, spending a ton of time on her clothes and hair. The biggest problem were her boots....omg they nearly killed me. Every single time I stared at them for more than 5 minutes, they seemed to look like two sausages ==___==" Sigh...legs are a pain to drawwwww.
And nooooooo, I won't stop making my pics better!! MWAHAHAHAHA!!!! :3 *hides from another series of bucket hits*

Yeah, definitely chic. A wall paper would be seriously awesome, I would download it on sight. Whatever the method you used, it's fantastic, so really, thanks for putting it up. Hopefully you can have some fun with it, because this pic can go really far if you're willing to take it for the ride. ^____^

I think a pink BG with a polka dot texture would be nice...hmm...I just have too find out how to make this one...I think I saw a tutorial somewhere on the webz ^^
