The composition for today's entry in "a drawing a day" required answering a question I've been investigating on-and-off for a while: what hat to put on Tiandriel's "the Prospector" outfit. As the case was urgent, I immediately set about creating a study drawing that would allow me to compare all the promising candidates at a glance, which ended up having 12 hats for consideration. Among the options were three fedoras of varying brim widths, three berets/bonnets and one closely-shaped hat that was to double as study for both flat caps and Spanish berets, and a selection of military caps that were lower down on the list of options (due to me trying to avoid adding more military elements to an outfit that already screamed paramilitary). The drawings were shown to fellow artists in several communities, and as of right now the slanted classic beret (second row, middle column in the collage above) seems the most popular, followed by the widest-brimmed fedora (top row, right column) and the kepi (bottom row, middle column). While it had few supporters, I find myself surprisingly drawn to the Fez... Fezzes are cool. (heh)

For today's drawing I'll be drawing either a classic slanted beret or a wide-brim fedora (beret first, but I'm not sure how it'd work out in the drawing), but I'm not yet fully decided on which hat will end up becoming the "main" hat of the Prospector. What do you guys on DeviantArt think, which hat do you think looks best on her?
