Description This is the 3rd page of the long-planned Palsgrave redesign character sheet for Tiandriel, focusing on the armour "layer" of the outfit, which underwent redesign here and there to make this armour more narrowly defined through 16th century references while also giving all the pieces a uniform decoration. The sallet has been retained to keep the original aesthetics of the original design, while reforming it so that it more closely matches the shapes of sallets of the early 16th century that would not be too-out-of-date for the 1560's nominal target time period for the redesign.

This is the third page of four, each dealing with a different aspect of the outfit-set, which consists of the slashed-and-puffed "underarmour" and a early-16th-century-style plate armour garniture that is intended to allow customisation to fit many different settings and circumstances; this same outfit-armour-set, with some adjustments, should look not-out-of-place for nearly the entire gamut of early modern time periods and various fantasy settings visually based on those periods.

If you want to see the individual pieces in more detail without having to unpack the GIF file yourself, I've created a journal post showing and explaining the individual page variants, linked below.
Variants of Page 3 of the Palsgrave SheetThis is a journal page that compiles the various variants of the third page of Tiandriel's "Palsgrave" character sheet that showcases the redesigned outfit-and-armour-set; page 3 deals with the armour garniture, and since there are various pieces for each "body slot", the actual page was made into a GIF. This journal gathers some of the variant pages for easier reference.First, let's take a good look at the core armour underlying the garniture.,This page omits the arm pieces, allowing full view of the breastplate-bellyplate-backplate combination that wrap around Tia's torso. These pieces are constant across all the variant pages. Also seen are the "continuous faulds" leg pieces.Next are the Heavy Spaulders, which are considered "default" arm pieces.,The "lance stop" vertical ridges along the top of the largest spaulder lames are mostly an aesthetic choice, but they do imply that these pieces are intended more for tournaments and duels than the field of battle - and indeed that would be their primary intended use case. Also showcased is the heavily decorated sallet, which is somewhat anachronistic for the intended time period of the set (mid-16th century) but was inherited from the original design of the Palsgrave before the redesign; the Palsgrave armour was at first a German "Gothic" harness that was based more on early 15th century examples, more than a century earlier than the pieces that inspired the redesign. Visors are shown both open and closed.Next are the lighter "field" spaulders, and a plate showing the pauldron variation.,The "field" spaulders are based on "field harness" examples of the mid-16th-century and are the most mobile of the arm piece variations; they suffer the least limitations to range of shoulder motion and are thus suitable for use in the battlefield. The little shield-shaped besagews are optional and may close the shoulder gap that also has voiders underneath them. Note that the variants with field spaulders also depict Tiandriel wearing lighter "many lames" gauntlets which plate lames only cover the outside of her hand, leaving the inside to just mail of tiny rings and leather. These would allow her to more easily use her pistols while armoured, which is important for her intended fighting style on the battlefield, fighting as a "reiter", an armoured mounted pistolier. Also shown is the gorget and burgonet that would be more in line with predominant armour shapes of the day, especially in Spain where much of the inspiration for the Palsgrave "outfit" comes from. The last of the four shown above depicts the pauldrons alongside a leg variation which uses two-lame tassets and large decorated cuisses instead of the continuous faulds shown on other plates. Like the heavy spaulders, the pauldrons also feature large "lance stops" and are intended more as tournament pieces rather than for use in war.Lastly, we have her jousting gear.,The jousting gear consists of a solid left leg tasset, enlarged arm pieces and lance stops on the left arm, a huge jousting bevor combined with a smoothed jousting sallet. These are combined with corresponding right-side pieces of the "pauldron" and "cuisses" sets to form a complete harness. There are no crests on the jousting sallet so that nothing catches on it.Those are the pieces that make up the garniture of Tiandriel's "Palsgrave" armour set.
