Bio: Alex can be considered a Diamond hidden in a pile of Black Coals.
given that he is a Kind and Compassionate soul born into Torment and Agony..
both He, and his timid mother lived in fear of Alex's father.
a Drunk/Smoker and a Sadist who routinly beat up and tortured his family.
Why he despised his own son, even Alex himself doesn't know.
what he DOES know is that he's been abused every single day, since the day he was born.
Alex's suffering came to an end one day when he enrolled into Canterlot High School.
it was there, that he met a group of girls who would prove to be valued friends.
Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Applejack
Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, and Rarity.
the girls not only discovered, and exposed his father's abusive behavior
(and, thus had him sent to prison where he eventually faced death for his sadism)
but, saved him from the manipulation of Twilight's long time rival: Sunset Shimmer.
It seemed as though Alex's future was looking up.
(he even had won the affections of Twilight, who took a liking to his gentle nature.)
but, alas: Fate had OTHER plans.
as just a few months after his father's execution..Alex began to grow ill.
to his Shock and Horror, he had gotten LUNG CANCER
(inflicted from his late father's constant tobacco smoke)
the news hit his friends hard (though, none more harder than Twilight)
who all spent as much time as they could with their dying friend.
(during this time..Twilight, fearful at losing Alex, becomes pregnant with him)
Alex fought his illness as long as humanly possible.
but, at last..he finally surcomes to his disease and dies.
not long afterwards..Twilight gives birth to his son: Alex, Jr.
After his death, Alex wakes up in an ethereal dimension.
a world of Ghosts, Spirits and Gouls.
and, HE has become one of them!!

Since he's technically a "main character"
I felt I needed to get his Concept Art/Bio posted as soon as possible
(I also took the time to color this one in, so MLP and DP fans will know what he looks like)
Basicly, he's an OC developed for my AU of Equestria Girls ('My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic' Humanized)
who later becomes a very obvious Danny Phantom-related character.
his whole life is rooted in realism.
from the abusive parent, to the lung cancer epidemic.
he serves as a love interest for Twilight Sparkle (there I go again, "Challenging Canon")
and, I guess his proposed story is an analogue for: "Death is only the BEGINNING"
(as his story actually takes off AFTER he dies and becomes a Ghost.)
Despite the obvious Danny Phantom Crossover.
I wanted to avoid making Cosmos a "Danny Clone" like so many other DP-inspired OC's
making him a Full Ghost was one way to do it.
while in terms of design, I took the traditional Danny look and altered it as best I could.
while Alex retains Danny's spikey bangs, his overall hairstyle is still different
(especially since his hair color is Auburn or Ginger Red, not Jet Black)
I also changed the costume to a degree..
the shirt is armless, with a much bigger cowl/chest piece.
he wears armbands, rather than gloves.
and, lastly: I gave him a different stylized letter emblem ("A")
which is taken from my earlier DP Emblem Design Chart.
Also (and, this is important)
the costume is colored White and Gold, instead of Black and White.
One major change that I made in Alex character (in writing, anyway)
is having him be the decendant of "King Sombra", a Wicked Awesome (but, underrated) MLP Villain.
I imagine that lineage came from his father's side of the family..
and, time has clearly mellowed out the bloodline, as Alex looks and acts nothing like the "King of Shadows"
(plus, it seems likely that a Tyrant King like Sombra would have SOME unknown decendants.
and, nothing says "Drama" like a hero character with Father and Ancestor who are BOTH evil.)
Note: I have noted a few errors in this artwork.
but, I doubt it's anything THAT noticeable.

Well, the backstory is good, and I like the idea of him being full ghost. Could have potential for a sort of star-crossed love thing.
As for the Sombra thing, DO IT! Maybe have him accidentally wander into a Tartarus-like part of the Ghost Zone and actually meet the tortured spirit of Sombra.
I think the reason he's underrated is because he only had one appearance, and he spent most of it going "Blargablargacrystalsblargablarga!"

I kinda have something like that planned, already.
in this version of The Ghost Zone.
I took the 'Wasteland' featured in Epic Mickey (which is modeled after Disneyland) as inspiration.
the more civilized and peacesful ghosts stay within a certain part of "the zone"
mostly in 'Ectotroplis', a town where new arrivals tremporarily make residense until they find their own homes
(which are those floating doors that lead to pocket dimensions, where Ghosts make their lairs)
Ectotropolis is a little similair to "Main Street/Mean Street" in that sense.
but, is more like Tim Burton's 'Halloween Town' in terms of design and atmosphere.
but, BEYOND the established borders of modern Ghost Society
is a part of the zone that I like to call: "The Shadowlands"
Hostile Spirits, Monsters and EVIL Ghosts dwell there.
and, King Sombra (and, others like him) may very well live at the very "heart" of this area.
making Sombra a ghost was EASY.
as despite making up my own canon, the series creators ALREADY killed him off.
since he's already dead, making him a Ghost Villain was easy.
in my AU Canon, he was killed by Celestria and Luna "1000" years ago
(instead of just being banished into a shadow form, and left to wander a frozen wasteland)
Also, in terms of character.
I am writing Sombra similair to Dan Phantom (if Dan were a "Tyrant King")
just to sell that, i'm giving Sombra "flaming hair"
as for Ectotropolis and the Shadowlands.
I establish that the Ghost World as a certain set of rules.
Rule Number One: "NEVER enter the Shadowlands under ANY circumstances."
course, after the "Mega Portal" opens up
between Equestria and the Shadowlands..THAT rule gets bents a little.

Descentant of King Sombra, huh? Interesting. He is an original one, great job. I like how the coloring resambles EG so much, enough to "fit in" with the rest of characters as if he truly was from the series.
The "Sunset Shimmer (would-be-girlfriend)" kinda reminds me of Eric, from your PPG/GL crossover (the situation he had, with Princess Morbucks and Buttercup etc.) , but this is premature, as you haven't explored the concept fully yet, so I can't really know.

I figured I could give Alex more character
if i had a canon MLP villain as his distant relative
(which could also explain the malicious behavior of his own father..to a certain degree)
what makes it funny is how "unlikely" it seems at first glance.
i mean..not only does Alex not look ANYTHING like the king.
but, he also doesn't act, not behave in a way that even connects them in the least.
but, it really DOES makes sense if one thinks about it.
as a Tyrant King like Sombra probably had his own personal "Harem of Concubines"
(that's when a King has dozens of women to have sex with at his leisure)
from which descendants most likely originated from.
statistically, an extended lineage decended from at least ONE of those poor women.
I based the concept itself on how some people believe they are descended from Vikings and Barbarians
due to so many of the crude warriors proving their "manhood" by raping whatever women they happened to find.
the end result is a personal enemy for Alex.
whose conflict with Sombra NEARLY mirrors Vlad or Dan Phantom.
but, is really about him coping with the fact
that he's a good man whose descended from a very evil one.
and, the ghost of Sombra just WON'T let him forget that, neither.
on a brighter side, Sombra has less love for Alex father than anyone else.
considering him to be a failure (and, an embarrassment) in every sense of the word.
(in Sombra's words: "he has all the Cruelty..but, lacks the creativity.
whilst his son is quite Cunning..but, shortsighted in his goals.")
as for Alex and Sunset.
I might've been thinking of Princess Morbucks subconsciously..
but, REALLY, the so-called pairing
is based on Sunset taking advantage of Alex timid and shy personality
and, treating him like he's her own personal "pack mule"
(ex: "Carry my LOADS of heavy bags, and I'll give you a kiss"
or, "Drive me to where I need to go, and compliment you")
for THAT reason, I made it apparent that Twilight "rescued" him from Sunset.

I actually plan for Sombra have a character much like Dan Phantom/Dark Danny did in the DP Universe.
in that he's a very Powerful Ghost (having CENTURIES of experience to go on)
is bitter towards Celestria and Luna (who are immortal beings, and have faced him once before)
and, is after Twilight and Alex's son for his own purposes.
the idea, is that both Alex and his father (now named Lionel) are his descendants.
but, both of them are a disappointment is some way or another..
Lionel is plenty Cruel and Merciless, but lacks vision and creativity
(all HE ever did was abuse his family, and spend his free time at bars)
Alex has plenty of the cunning and strategic intellect.
but, would rather be a Hero to the people, than it's Lord and Master
(plus, Sombra isn't too fond of his Shy and Timid behavior)
Alex Jr. (as a baby) is a clean slate.
in Sombra's hands, he could mold him into an ideal successor.
as for power, Sombra is (as I previously stated) VERY powerful.
Alex has problems beating his ghostly father in combat.
but, even Lionel is less than nothing when compared with Sombra.
Sombra is powerful enough to come at a close second
with the Crown of Fire/Ring of Rage empowered version of "Sunset Satan"

as Sombra was an evil tyrant, whilst Discord was just a mischievous prankster.
Plus, while discussing the subject.
series creators have stated, and I quote.
"I don't think I'd want to reform all of our villains.
I don't think that would be realistic.
No matter how hard you try, some people (or evil alicorns)
just aren't going to change their ways.
But for a character like Discord,
'reforming' him allows us to tell more stories with his character.
He gets to be the not-always-reliable ally instead of the known enemy."

in 'Escape From Cluster Prime'
it was revealed that Vexus deceived her subjects into believing she was a "freedom fighter"
by painting XJ-9 as a Monster, and pinning the theft of their golden disks on her
(when in reality, SHE took them do only she and her army would have transforming capabilities)
Plus, she seems quite affectionate towards her fellow robots.
favoring ALL machines over organic life forms
that made it easy to make her good in some story.
Sombra, however..considers his people nothing but SLAVES.
and, isn't too shy in pointing that out, neither.
his people are terrified of him.
and, he not only knows this..but, LOVES it.
so, despite both being "Tyrant Rulers"
Sombra and Vexus each have different management styles, and conflicting moralities.
they probably wouldn't get along if they ever met in person.
as the creators said: SOME people just can't be changed.
Some are just too far gone to be helped.

also true. but one has to wonder how did Sombra become the way he is? it's possible he was good at one point then something happened that turned him evil and into the monster we know him as. so many theories involving dark magic. and that can corrupt if you let it control you.

. Maybe he had issues with his father.
who wanted him to be STRONG, instead of Weak.
and, Sombra really just wanted to prove himself.
. or, maybe he was like Twilight: had a thirst for Knowledge, and wanted to be the best.
only, he took the same road as Sunset, and went for the Fast and Easy way.

it's also possible he was a friend of the princesses but while studying dark magic felt betrayed by the princesses when they felt the same way due to his studying of such magic. Like forbidden corrupting stuff including the crown he wore.

I've seen a few fanarts that depict Sombra and Luna either being Friends or, having a romantic relationship. .
While there is no canon evidence to back this up
(especially since both Celestria AND Luna banished Sombra in the first place)
the idea has merit, and I thought i'd adapt it into my own canon when the time comes.
the way I view it..Luna may've been Sombra's 'best friend' as a child.
and, in later years..they might've been something more.
but, Sombra's thirst for power may've corrupted him.
and, forced Luna to side with her sister to end his reign of terror.
This could give Luna some emotional baggage.
as IF Sombra was her friend, then destroying him might've been painful
(could also explain how she turned on Celestria so easily when she became 'Nightmare Moon')
the event also gives Sombra a reasonable excuse to question the whole "Friendship Is Magice" thing.
claiming that Luna's "betrayal" only proved to him that Friendship is a Sham.
and, enforcing a new way of thinking with this quote..
"Why needs Friends, when you can have Servants??
Who needs to be Loved, when you can be FEARED and RESPECTED?!!
Friendship and Love is nothing but a joke, meant for the Weak..and, I am NOT Weak."
I imagine Sombra nitpicking at Alex, and his affection for the 'Mane Six'

It's possible that Luna knew Sombra had to be stopped and reasoning with him didn't work then thus leading to the scene of them banishing him to ice & shadow.

It could also have been knowledge he was looking for thus leading to the discovery of dark magic which then corrupted him, feeding him lies and eventually causing the events of 1000 years ago.
Technically they didn't destroy him then. only banish. Spike was the one who destroyed him 1000 years later.

in which Celestria and Luna destroyed Sombra, rather than turning him into a formless shadow
(although, I will make reference to that when Luna mentions
that SHE wanted to use that spell, deeming it more merciful.
but, Celestria was too concerned over Sombra's power.
and, her fear led her to decide that killing him was better for everyone.
a decision that will come back to haunt her when Spombra returns as a Ghost)

as for the "Nightmare Force"
to my knowledge, it influences it's hosts similair to the Venom Symbiote of Spider-Man fame.
the way the Series Creators explain it.
was that the Nightmare Force played on the more darker feelings of Luna and Rarity.
warping their minds to believe that Power was all that mattered
and, making them turn against those that they once loved.
in my version, the Nightmare Force influenced Luna
by using her personal feelings for Sombra, AND Celestria's own popularity
(In Other Words: People loves Celestria MORE than Luna
and, it was Celestria who decided to destroy Sombra, rather then "imprison" him)
Luna is fine now.
but, she still holds some resentment over Celestria's judgement over Sombra.
always saying: "You should've helped him."
or, "He was my FRIEND, that should've been enough."
and, blaming her own self for Sombra's ghostly rampage.
actually believing Sombra's claim that she wasn't a good friend for siding with her sister against him.

I see. Good point there. It's also could've played on her loneliness and the fact she didn't have friends herself. Plus her jealousy of the sun given her night wasn't loved or respected as much as the day.
That would be harsh on Sombra's part. I mean she didn't want him dead just banished. She may have helped cast the spell but Celestia was the one who ultimately casted the spell in the first place.

Well, I wanted this to be authentic for the MLP fans who may see it.
so, I observed the Equestria Girls art style, and tried to emulate it as best I could
(which ironically, is similar to the PPG style when it comes to the eyes.)
Rule Number One with this particular art style: There are NO Black Outlines, Everything is in COLOR.
for a first attempt at a colored MLP: EQG drawing..I felt I did a decent job.

but, given that MLP (or, at least the modern version) is the brainchild of Craig McCracken's wife.
I like to give it the benefit of a doubt, and try out fiction and artwork on it.
and, for the most part..I do see SOME influence from McCracken.
for example: Rainbow Dash's character and personality seems nearly exactly like Buttercup's.
(which might explain why she's one of my favorite MLP characters, if I had to pick just one.)

I don't know why, but like you, I always find my favorite character to be the short tempered tough ones.
I also like "Raphael" from "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and he is probably worse than Buttercup when it comes to "anger problems."

That's the part I took my time designing.
I didn't want to just draw Danny's jumpsuit
and, then recolor it like Hasbro does it's toys (called a "redecco" or "retool")
no, I altered it so NO ONE would mistaken him for Danny.
made his costume armless, gave him Dan's Shoulders Pads and Vlad's Chest piece
replaced gloves with bands, and gave the belt a little more detail.
with the addition of a different emblem, and color scheme.
I felt I made it similar enough to DP so people get the reference..
but, Different enough that no one will think it's a knockoff.
