The whole scene sums up the heart of the series itself.
how Wander thinks he is Lord Hater's friend,
Hater HATES him, and become so distracted with trying to kill Wander, that he forgets about being depressed.
(I'd also like to point out that Wander and Hater's relationship
is a bit similar to the comedy film "What About Bob?")
