[Alex Cosmos POV]
"but..But, why CAN'T I go with you!!?" cried Tia
I stared into the tear filled eyes of the filly who would one day become Princess Celestia.
oh, how I wanted so bad to stay..to be there for her.
but, i..I just couldn't.
this wasn't my time, my world..I need to get back to present day Equestria.
I cursed whatever random occurrence brought be here in the distant past to begind with.
I never intended to be wrapped in as 'Tia's' foalsitter..to have Celestia bond with me as she did.
and, I certainly never imagined I would bear witness to the death of her mother the queen.
or, be caught in the impossible situation..
that on Little Tia's WORST DAY, she would have to lose another she cared for.
What COULD I do!!?
I couldn't just take her with me to the future..she had a purpose in Equestria's History.
she needed to become the Princess of the Sun, lead her people..and, be Twilight Sparkle's mentor.
but, I couldn't just stay, either.
Twilight was waiting for me to return with our son.
and, unless I returned to Canterlot soon: Equestria wouldn't HAVE a future.
I sighed sharply as I looked down at Little Tia.
"i'm sorry, tia..but, this isn't about what I want.
I have a responibility..so do you, Princess.
Someday, my little Celestia..you'll understand."
the filly cried as she buried her face into my legs.
(faust, I hate time travel..why'd this have to be so hard!??)
"w-will i..ever see you, again??" asked Tia through sobs
I cracked a smile, knowing the ironic truth in my answer.
"yes..you will.
It may be many years from now..but, we WILL see each other, again."
I stroked Tia's pink mane, comforting as best I could.
"just promise me one thing." I said, finally
"ANYTHING!!"
"look after your baby sister, Luna..
she is going to need you, now that your mother is gone."
I felt Tia nod her head.
"I WILL, I PROMISE!!"
I now find myself in wondering: when I return to the present..will Celestia remember this day??

Story Sketch for my fiction 'My Little Pony: Beyond Life and Death'
(which is about Twilight falling in love, having a child,
and, her 'coltfriend' becoming a ghost in the midst of a Ghost Invasion)
this concept is based on an idea for the story,
where Alex Cosmos (and Dracon, a dragon and the dethroned Chrysalis)
take a "detour" during their journey to Canterlot,and, end of thousands of year in the past..
back BEFORE Equestria was founded (back when the world was simply called "Ponyland")
during the reign of Queen Lauren Faust, AND during a time when Celstia was only a young filly.
while trying to get back to the present day Equestria,
Alex gets roped into being "Tia's" new foalsitter, and accidently gains favortism in the Princess's eyes.
Alex and company bear witness to events in ancient pony history as they unfold,
namely the tragic death of Queen Faust, who sacrificed her life to save her kingdom.
Alex at last finds a way to return to the present..but, Tia wants him to stay with her (or, her him)
It is a side of Celestia Alex never knew existed..
and, he somehow must convince the future ruler of Equestria the true meaning of responibility.

It's a concept for the Pony Version of the story that I haven't started yet
(you are probably referring to the Humanized version..which is slightly different.)
Anyways, this is a concept I am considering using.
I thought I'd post artwork, to see if anyone responds positively to it.

Though I don't know how the two alicorns are born
But I do have a theory they do have parents that ruled the horse planet equestria until a great darkness descendent on the land
When the parents went to fight them they left Tia and Luna in hiding
The battle was won butt at the cost of the rulers leaving the two alicorns orphan

Since the series producers pretty much avoid the subject of Celestia and Luna's parents
(much like what they do with Applejack and HER parents)
I think it's really up to us (the fans) to decide for ourselves what happened.

no one's really been all that clear on who Tia and Lulu's father was.
I like to think he was the then Captain of the Guard,
because I think it's romantic for a Royal and a Soldier to be involved with one another
(and, it technically HAS happened with Shining Armor and Cadance)
which would also explain hos absence: Soldiers DO die.
Also, in my canon..Celestia and Luna weren't completely alone.
after they were orphaned, the court wizard Starswirl (the Bearded) looked after them.
sort of like a Merlin figure, if anything.

I know emotions, and what I find emotional (that's really the best explanation I can give.)
I partly based some of this on a scene in 'Back to the Future: The Game'
where Marty McFly (while stranded in the 1930s) gives teenage Emmett a newspaper clipping from the future,
telling him NOT to look at it, until he got 'the key to the city' (which the clipping described)
this led to Doc Brown arriving a few minutes afterwards in the DeLorean,
and, Marty and Doc have a toughing moment, where Doc muses: "So, you were the SAME Marty.."
I kind of hope for a similar scene in this MLP Canon,
in which Alex returns from the past, and Celestia indeed remembers he was "the same Alex" from her foalhood.

the original was a good short story,
and, really tugs at one's heartstrings.
Since the whole thing involves a human,
I thought I might have Rainbow Dash gain some closure by confiding in Lyra
(who to many MLP Fans, is a Unicorn who somehow knows about Humans, and obsesses over them.
I think SHE would understand Rainbow's problem the most, and be supportive of her.)

This scene occurred shortly after the Big Battle that the life of Celestia's mother..
Baby Luna was still in the Castle,
but, Celestia was still old enough to sneak out, and observe the traumatic scene.
On a side note, as children,
Celestia and Luna's nicknames are "Tia" and "Lulu" respectfully.

I like to try and blend the differing versions of a franchise in my personal fandoms
(like I tend to do with my Transformers fictions, blending G1/Beast Wars with Animated and Prime)
In this case, I implied that thousands of years ago,
Equestria used to be called "Ponyland" during the time Celestia and Luna's mother ruled
(seemed like a simple enough name for Equestia's distant past.)
It was presumably renamed at some later date.
It's a decent reference to the 80s series
(it also won't be the last reference I will make,
as I intend to involve Grogar and Tirek as "returning" characters in my MLP:FIM works)
It's creative writing.
