The day before the final presentation, I kept waking up like every hour. Though I got everyone I personally wanted, there was still those that my siblings were asking about. In this case it was my first brother who had a list of rather "impossible characters" that he'd still talk about half-jokingly, but of all of them the one with the most(?) possibility was Sora from Kingdom Hearts.

I had mentioned in the previous fighter's shot that Tekken was my very first video game ever. In this case, Kingdom Hearts was one of the first of other video game series following after that which my siblings and I grew up with. We got our first copy as a bootleg-- as we always do-- but it ran fine for a while as we played it on our old CRT at the time. I still remember how our TV was so crispy that the moment when the Heartless took over Destiny Islands was pitch black. I thought that was how it always went and it made the situation feel even scarier to us as children.

Among other things, Sora and his extra-happy-go-lucky attitude was often the butt of our jokes. The adventures, crossovers, (and handfuls of characters we made and involved) with him and his friends did make a huge basis of what we ran our imaginative-n-weebish processes on. But even though it felt like I never took Sora that seriously back then (and even somewhat hysterically when we would imagine how he could yet revealed in Smash Ultimate), I still cared about him and KH as a whole. Despite the way the plot rails into insanity if you miss checking out at least (1) game, I still find the colorful, fantastical feelings of the very first game to be why I'm still fond of it all.

That feeling came right on back when the reveal actually happened, so I was one of the many who felt hecka emotional when it all came together. Of course, there were obvious limitations as to what Sora would do or bring with him to the game, but I was personally still very happy with what I saw. Just to see that the developers were able to portray Sora's goofy self (and KH1 janky-steps) so well felt good enough-- I don't really ask for a lot in the first place, so take that as you will. ( ` ,`);

I remember drawing Sora a few times as a kid in silly-jokey comics, but to actually be drawing him in a much more serious(ly happy) light feels strange.
Because it's been so many years, it really feels like I'm super-retracing my steps or something, I dunno. But I am really happy with how he turned out-- and on first try!

But all things said, to me, this felt like such a nice way to finish off Smash Ultimate's roster. Understandably, it's not going to please everyone but that's because some people will have their own experiences and wants, and all we can do is get that and be reasonable (I would hope there was at least one character from the DLC or the base roster that you still enjoyed). It was definitely a wild ride, I'm just relieved I don't have to do crazy loops to avoid random rumors anymore and I can enjoy the game as I will.
