Description My stylized clipper ship carving. Like my previous work, this clipper ship model is inspired by the folk art ship modeling tradition and the concept of artistic representation.

The clipper hull is carved from a 12"x2"x2" rectangular Basswood block complete with bow-peak and rudder all in one piece. The hull is stained Cherry with two coats of satin polyurethane. I only applied one coat of stain so the grain patterns will still be visible.

Like all previous projects, I used Basswood to make the sails with one coat of polyurethane polished with a piece of brown paper bag. The rigging is done in all-black button thread, unlike earlier works that had both black and beige thread. I used Basswood for the base with pre-cut pedestals and stained it Red Oak.
