I used a mechanical pencil and some awesome yellowish paper...? haha i'm not sure what kind of paper it was
I'm pretty happy with it, but if i hadn't have run into a problem with my eraser smearing instead of erasing, it would have been much better
I'm not entirely sure how to make hair look good, so i totally just made up what i did lol

You're very good at proportions, I commend you on that. 
A few tips:
You could be an INSANELY good pencil artist with a little practice.
Deeper tones would do you well, as well as a smoother method of blending. Your paper seems very textured, and that's not good for a realistic pencil portrait. Get some smooth paper and you'll have an easier time blending. I like using tissues for smudging and making everything look smoother.

i appreciate the advice! i really have no idea how to improve on stuff like that because i've never taken a class or anything
i'll try the paper thing and tissue thing next time i work on a drawing
