The little 4 pages comic I've done last summer for *purplekecleon 's MLP artbook : "Merry-Go-Round". I know it has been featured on Equestria Daily yesterday (Thanks for that by the way! It just caused me a few hours of total confusion seeing the sudden afflux of visits lol I almost curled-up in a ball wondering WHY. ALMOST.) so I figured it might as well upload it myself.You also have another view to it, since these are the original digital files. Even if I don't dislike the texture the printed-then-scanned pages got!
And, yeah, it's about social-anxiety (roughly haha). I felt that point wasn't that much explained in the series, even if included in Fluttershy's character.
Speaking of the book in itself, I will have a few (like, very few : about 10) to sell at french conventions this spring. You (french consorts) will hear more about it when the time comes, but I'm sure to add some bonus to it, to make-up for the lateness compared to the US release! I'm thinking about a small postcard-picture, and a translate sheet with each book at least. Surely more!

I really love this as I identify with Fluttershy,the last time I had to speak to a large group I shook like a leaf.
I don't like big groups and my best friend is like Dash so I related to this a lot.Β

Some people have issue with Fluttershy's apparent lack of development in the series,Β theyΒ should read this and realise that such an instance is easier said than done. this is just perfect an illustration.

I absolutely love how this portrays Fluttershy and her relationship with her friends! It fits in with the series extremely well, explaining Fluttershy's character build-up and showing us what her emotions toward her friends really is in her eyes. Also, the comparison between Fluttershy and a butterfly, her nice 'bubble' of privacy and the bottle, and her friends and the 'lively bugs' explains their attitude very well and gives us a nice view of them internally.
Also, a thing I would like to add: One of my favorite things about this small comic has got to be the 'butterfly's bottle'.
The bottle is clearly glass, which I LOVE!!! If we go into a deeper meaning stage and look at it from 'the butterfly's' point of view, the glass bottle is her little bubble of privacy. It is filled with everything that she is used to and comfortable with, and she doesn't intend on breaking the bottle. Since the bottle is made out of glass, she can clearly see the outisde world, but chooses to quietly observe and stay with her content system instead of actually experiance what she sees as scary chaos. Since the butterfly is not willing to break the glass and expose herself to what is outside, it takes some one else to charge in and take her a bit outside of her comfort zone.
When we also drag in the fact that 'the butterfly' forgot how to fly, it strengthens the purity and emotion that this masterpiece gives the person viewing the art. The more that the 'lively bugs' push the butterfly out of her comfort zone,Β the more she remembers aboutΒ 'how to fly'. In other words, the more that her friends push Fluttershy out of her comfort zone, the more she experiances the wonders of a more outgoing life, even if the process is slow.
And finally,Β Fluttershy understands how amazing life can be outside of the comfort of her 'glass bottle', although she still isn't extremely outgoing yet. She welcomes the company of her friends, knowing that day after day, they will continue to show her more and more of how beautiful the world is, even when she isn't in the safety of her bottle.

As someone who identifies with Fluttershy, this is one of the most significant MLP comics I've ever read.... Beautifully-done from the artistic perspective too.
