Great armor! I also noticed a Celtic sword at your belt. A very nice choice. The beard is also badass. I almost thought you were a real viking!

Thanks! Wearing the armor in the Texas heat is brutal. Half the time I smell like a viking too!

Now this is fancy.
What kind of tool is supposed to be used for carving such details?
Would be nice to try stuff like this myself sometime. But when it comes to tools, I honestly hardly have a clue in what sort of tools I should be looking for.

Nice job!

thanks! I don't really do things the right way. I have no clue how to tool leather the conventional way. This is how I do it. Just draw your design onto the leather. Then use a very sharp blade to cut your disign into the leather. Not to deep, 1/4 the way through at most. Then take a windresistant lighter, one of those with the long necks on it, and move the flame over the cuts. Be carful not to burn the leather. This will spread out the lines. If I'm going to dye it black then thats it. The design done this way is nice looking in black but you have to get up close to see the details. If you want to stain it brown like I did, then just stain it first and then get a permenent marker and fill in your lines. This is a pain in the butt and takes forever but it looks really nice. With this method you can do really detailed work. I hope that helped. Please let me know how it turns out for you.
Mike

Will do. Thanks for the information.
I think I will definately use this sometime. But first I want to find a convenient way to make my leather more stiff. I use thick leather for my works, but I think details like these will work out better when the leather is a bit harder.
How do you put it together? Do you use a sewing machine?

I use a dremel or rotary tool to drill the holes and use waxed thread to sew it together. No machine though, all done by hand. You can also use a leather punch to put the holes in but I like the dremel better. I have another leather armor I will be posting soon. That one the knotwork is all cut out and sewn on the armor. it was much more difficult but worth it.

I tend to use a punch myself. And I tend to use thick laces of leather to stitch it together, I cut those myself aswell.
Hm... I also have a lot of stuff I still have to put on deviantart..Perhaps I should sometime.
It can indeed all take a long while. But it tends to be rewarding.
Looking forward to see your armor.

I like your garb and armor. I would like to see some leather shoulders finish it out.
