I must admit, I haven't got a name for them . .
Lets call them: "Skrypes" (from "scary stripes", is that original?)

I tend to make my creature's names of their attributes, but in LATIN and THEN merge them.
For example, the PATARDUSCIS is an early plated fish-like creature that feeds off oily bacterial pools in the dirty water on planet ollimba. I took 3 words to describe it:
Plate, slug, fish.
Translate them into Latin:
Plate = patella
Slug = tardus
Fish = piscus
put 'em all together and you get a Patarduscis!
