It is the rebirth of my old shading style. I decided to get unlazy and take the time to actually paint the way I used to. And I know I know, it is an official fact that I totally and utterly SUCK ASS at backgrounds.This is a little portrait of Ryden and his twin sister Talim when they're all grown up, aged somewhere between 18 and 22. These two are the kids of Rye and Preia, from Amariahellcat's RPG "War of Three Nations." Rye is a demon/neko-jin halfbreed and Preia is pure elf, so these kids are half elf, quarter neko-jin and quarter demon. Crazy mix!! So, Ryeden has inherited his father's hair and fangs, and his mother's eyes and ears, whereas Talim has inherited more of her mother's hair with a touch of her father's, and her father's eyes and her mother's ears. Confused? Me too!!!
I don't know much about Talim because she isn't my character, but Ryden is the embodiment of arrogance, proud that he has demon blood, wishing he had more of it. He is also extremely protective over his twin sister.

It looks good -- I dig the lineart.
I think someone had mentioned shadow and higlights already, and i'll reiterate that -- I think you need to get a greater value range, especially in the skin tones.

Awesome coloring style, it makes the characters really stand out and look bold. But the girl's tummy looks kind of flat when compared to the coloring on her face. O: My only suggestion for that would be to add stronger shades and highlights. Other than that, I love this image. I haven't really seen this 'old' shading style of yours before. You should use it more often.
