Description A what-if? world where the book: Gordon the High-Speed Engine was actually better.

Gordon is a big, proud locomotive, but always tries his best to show he is still capable of pulling the Wild Nor' Wester. However, he is put to the test in the late 80s by new, modern high-speed diesels. One of these come to Sodor for a while and Gordon feels threatened and takes it upon himself to try his best to show the big engine isn't done running fast services yet. Gordon runs the train as fast as can be, but every day he strains himself. This run made his body give way and he breaks down, but still willing to get his train to the next station. He comes into Wellsworth at the pace of a snail. The big engine thought for sure he would be replaced, however, Stephen Hatt only brought Pip and Emma so they can handle his train for a while until he is overhauled and not bother any of the other's shedules. Gordon is given a new shape of an LNER A3 design, drawings given kindly from Flying Scotsman's owner. Gordon comes out of the works with his new shape and feeling all brand new again. He gives Pip and Emma, who had broken down a run for their money on his first day back, making them leave in shock whilst Douglas towed them back to the mainland.

Gordon would run the express with his new shape until 2011, when Pip and Emma come back to take over his role of the Wild Nor' Wester. Even so, Gordon still runs a fast express services with Rebecca and Alice on the mainland. Even going far as Edinburgh at one point! This gave Richard Hatt the idea of having Gordon take trains further than Sodor, making him the first steam engine to properly run trains in England in a long time. The big engine cannot be more proud.

--------------------------

I must admit I have a billion ideas on drawing Gordon, but this one I really wanted to draw this sort of angle with the big lad at speed. So yeah, it now exists. Hope you all like it!
