Thank you! I dont tink I have a single picture of her where she looks anything else than beautifull or lady like.. Even pictures where she's shakin off water she looks regal!Β
Your brothers dog sounds beautifull. I've seen some white shepheards before that looks alot like Shira. And the shepherd/lab mix sounds like a very goodlooking mix of breeds
It's always hard loosing someone who's close to you.. I still cant think about Shira without shedding a tear. Its a knot in my chest whenever I think off her. I know time will heal, but I'll probably miss her forever.Β
Dogs are wonderfull like that, they're always positive and easy to make happy.. They strive to keep their human pack-mates happy all the time. I know Shira did many things on intentional purpose just to keep me happy. Dogs are just incredible creatures.
She deserved a honorable end.

Thank you! She is <3
Aw, congrats! Has he got a name?
Shira was a Swedish white Elkhound. It's a very rare breed. They're basicly non-existing outside of scandinavia, and here in scandinavia its only about 200 of them. But they are very beautifull dogs and known for being very kind-hearted, so I hope the breed will expand!
If you dont live in scandinavia, I would recomend you to check out these similar breeds as posibilities, too They all come in white and share some carasteristics with the swedish white: Kai dog, Greenland Dog, Akita, Nothern Inuit Dog, Hauling Laika, Hokkaido, Kishu and Shikoku. Also white huskies might look a bit similar.
I hope you find out what breed he is But most importantly, I hope you have many happy years together! <3

no problem c':
yes his name is bear c: since it would take long to say polar bear all the time X3
bear is very kind-hearted and he does seem to look like one. but i found him on the streets
Β dont think anyone would abandon any rare breed :c plus his tail doesn't curve much.
the northern Inuit Dog seems the closest if not like yours
d'aww thats very nice of you to say uvu
and i hope you spent many happy years with her <3

I want to cry, looking at this. It reminds me of our old dog, Emma. We decided to put her down last October, because she was deaf, partially blind and losing strength in her hip.
RIP Shira <3

I'm sorry about Emma. Was she old?
Shira had those problems too.. But they came very quickly, about a week. Her problem didnt originate in her body, but it was her brain actually that started shutting down. or she had a tumor. The two last days she got very ill and was almost deaf, blind, had very little control over her body (especially hind legs) and also she was so confused and stressed. I was the only person she remembered at the end. We figured it would be best to let her go before she didnt have any control over her body and also before she forgot me, as well. It was a little reassuring to know that she found comfort in my presens while she fell asleep. I will never forget the weight of her head on my lap as she drifted away.
Thank you <3

It's okay. Emma was roughly 16 years old, if not older. A couples years before, she had gone through a period of depression. I remember she would just lay around all day. That was when we got our Yorkie's. She finally bounced back, and started to (somewhat) get along with them. About a month before we knew it was time for her to go, she would walk around the house like she was lost. She went in the bathroom one night, and couldn't get out (even though the door was wide open). My dad finally realized it when we were standing in the kitchen, and she peed behind me, and THEN barked to go out. I'll admit, we were all in denial. She seemed so happy still. But, watching her struggle up the stairs, and looking into her eyes which were slowly turning milky, we decided it was time. I still remember how she trotted out the front door, wiggling her butt (she didn't have a tail, due to the breed) and pretty much jumping into my dads arms as he put her in the car. I couldn't even go. I stayed home, and just cried. In fact, I'm sure my older brother cried harder. My parents came home an hour or so later, with her leash, harness, and a clay thing with her paw print on it. I'm glad she isn't in pain, yes, but I miss her biting my ankle, growling, and just her happy attitude. I don't miss all of the hair, though XD Man, she would shed enough hair to make 3 more dogs! I guess what I'm trying to say is, though I miss her with all of my heart, I'm glad she isn't suffering. She'll always have a place in my heart. Sorry, this turned out much longer than expected. Didn't mean it to. Thanks for letting me share this.

Wow, she was old! Thats a great age for a dog. I really wanted Shira to become that old too, she was so young and full of life so everyone believed her to become that old too. Up to a week before we had to put her down that is.
Shira also did those things.. She peed inside, and it didnt look like she was emberassed or even realised what she did. When we tried to take her outside, she was all comfused over where she was.. And that mindless walking, that was really disturbing Our vetrinarian said its because the dog is so confused, it kind off is in a "no-mind-state", just walking around without any purpose, confused and not knowing where it is or where to go and so on. It's so disturbing to watch Those are signs of some sort of brain damage; either a tumor or dementia. When it gets to that, all added up, its better to let them go. And yes, hey dont suffer anymore but the loss is still hard to live with in the start and missing them will always be a part of our life.
It's so hard to loose a good friend like that. You were lucky to have her for 16 years. But I know, its not long enough. No worries about it turning out long, I'm glad you wanted to share this with me
