Only moments after the two realize who the other is, GulusGammamon is forced back under the control of the Great Demon Lords and is ordered to kill Faybelle. She desperately tries to help him regain control of himself and vows to stay with him, unaware of the danger lurking just behind her. Her words seem to fall on deaf ears as GulusGammamon subconsciously raises his tail to deliver the killing blow. Just as his tail moves to strike her, Faybelle calls out to him that she loves him and wants to be with him again. In a split second, GulusGammamon regains control of himself but it is too late to stop himself. All he can do is change his target. Before anyone can react, GulusGammamon stabs himself.

GulusGammamon collapses in Faybelle's arms, having hit a vital organ and quickly succumbing to his wound. Faybelle desperately tries to help him but there's nothing she can do to save him. He is dying and there is nothing anyone can do to change that. She frantically apologizes to him for putting him through all this and explains that she never tried to leave him. Learning the truth of what had happened to her that caused her to break her promise, GulusGammamon also apologizes for what happened that led to all this devastation. With the last of his strength, he pulls out something he had intended to give her the night everything fell apart. He places in her hand a star-shaped trinket, wrapped carefully in a scrap of blue cloth to protect it over the years. As she tries to process the gift, he explains how he knew her illness was getting worse and desperately wanted to help her. He went searching for a star so that she could wish herself better, but was never able to get a real star. All he could find was a star-shaped trinket, but he hoped it would have been enough to make her wish come true. He no longer cared to return to the Digital World. He just wanted his friend to be healthy and safe. Sadly, preparing the star for Faybelle and the sudden storm made him late and she had already been carried off by the nurses by the time he arrived.

Faybelle tearfully accepts GulusGammamon's gift, finally able to make the wish she sought to make after so many years. Before she make her wish, GulusGammamon begins to fade as his data breaks down, his body no longer able to sustain itself from his wound. The last thing she saw of him was that big smile she was so familiar with that gave her so much comfort back in those lonely days at the hospital. Faybelle breaks down in tears as she mourns over the loss of her friend, desperately wanting him to stay. Clutching tightly to the star, Faybelle makes her wish...
