Overwhelmed with guilt and regret, Mr. Fife decides it is for the best to leave the life he once had in Serene Village and to stay away from Aster. Yet he can't seem to bring himself to truly leave her side. Keeping his distance, he watches over her from afar to make sure she's okay. He witnesses her put on a smile for everyone as she hands out flowers, wanting to lift everyone's spirits after the events of Dark Matter and feeling her own sense of guilt over everything that happened. She even tries to apologize to everyone on Mr. Fife's behalf. All the while she refuses to let herself cry and keeps up a happy façade despite the obvious lingering pain she feels of having lost the two Pokémon she cared for most. Mr. Fife desperately wishes he could take back everything he's done to her and give her the life Aster truly deserves, but knows it is too late to undo all the damage he's caused. Unbeknownst to him, someone has taken notice of his presence and has an idea of how to help . . .

(I was listening to the song "She Used To Be Mine" from the Broadway musical Waitress (specifically the cover by Caleb Hyles) and thought this would be a really fitting song for Mr. Fife as he recounts all of his regrets and his desire to make things right. The song just seems to embody his guilt for having hurt Aster so much so well and I can honestly see him singing this song during his time of leaving Serene Village and Aster is left all alone.
