Here's my take on the scene in Sonic Forces when Sonic is reunited with Tails after being imprisoned for half-a-year. And yes, I've removed Classic Sonic from the story and replaced him with his siblings Sonia and Manic. I just like Sonia and Manic more and thought they'd be better for the story I want to tell. No offense to Classic Sonic, of course. I just think he should stay in his own time... dimension??? They really should have just kept Classic Sonic as Sonic's past self and NOT make him an alternate reality Sonic. It would make the "Generations" joke better. Speaking of that great one-liner, I may sadly have to drop it that great joke I love so much as it just wouldn't hit with Sonia and Manic like it would with Classic Sonic. Sorry, guys.

Anyways, in this take on the scene rewrite, Sonic and Tails express a lot more heartfelt emotions when they finally reunite. Tails would basically crash right into Sonic for a big hug and cry his heart out, apologizing for not being able to save him. Sonic would quickly try to reassure Tails that he's okay and try to play it cool, trying his best to suppress his own tears and present himself with the same confidence and cool he had before his imprisonment as he doesn't want to make Tails worry about him any more than the poor kid already was.

Their reunion gets a slight interruption when Sonia gives Sonic an earful (full naming him, including his embarrassing middle name Maurice) for making everyone worry so much about him for half-a-year and then acting like that when he's finally reunited with his family. Sonic is shocked to see his brother and sister there as it had been a while since he last saw them. Before Sonic can properly respond to Sonia's vent on him, Manic tackles Sonic in a big hug as he greatly missed his brother and Sonia soon joins the group hug. Pausing for just a moment to process this, Sonic finally embraces the family hug and lets the tears he had been trying so hard to hold back fall finally. He doesn't let it all out, but he was just so happy to finally be with all his siblings again that he can't help but cry over how much he missed them.

It's a very sweet and wholesome scene between Sonic and all three of his siblings. Yes, I count Tails as one of his siblings as the two are as close as real brothers. I just thought giving this scene a more heartfelt and wholesome moment for Sonic and his family would give it a larger impact and mean a lot more to the characters and audience. Let me know what you guys think of this and if the full name callout from Sonia (much like from the original series she starred in) is a good compromise for the humor we'd lose with the "Generations" joke being absent.
