Sounds like you're going to be busy checking out artwork for a while Thanks so much for taking the time to comment on the pieces I've posted recently. I really appreciate it!

The day I shot this, it was pretty overcast and misty so I was worried about how it would turn out. It was a little on the dark side so I used the brightness and contrast in PS to bring out the details. This place is gorgeous. I felt like I was in a National Geographic special!

Well, Winnipeg isn't a huge city, and they're big on green space here, lots of city parks and trails so I'm lucky that way. To get to the really nice areas though, it's about a 45 minute drive. My sister in law is the really lucky one. She lives in Victoria BC. There, it's like living in a National Geographic special. Everywhere you look there's ocean or forest or mountains.

LOL I'm so jealous I bet you go up there quiet a bit ? But then who wouldn't . I guess thats what day trips are for, is to find places like that .

This year was the first time I'd ever been. And then I was lucky (or spoiled) enough to go twice. I'd lost my job in the spring and was really depressed so my son paid for the trip to cheer me up. I was there for a week and fell in love with it. In the fall he decided that since I'd loved it so much, and I'm turning 50 in December (shhhhh ) that a two week trip back would be an awesome birthday present. He was right!

WOW . awesome man you have for a son he sounds really sweet too just to do that for mom . WOW WOW .I just hope that my boys will be as sweet to me when I 'm older. Right now they are driving me batty but I guess thats what a three year old almost four and an almost nine year old does best .
Sounds like you are going to have an awesome time .

He really is quite incredible. It's funny, because he's 6'4" and 220, so people generally find him initimidating when they meet him. He comes across a little gruff, but he has a such a tender heart . Especially when it comes to family and friends. My ex and I divorced when my kids were 15 and 13. The 3 of us went through some REALLY difficult times but, it made us very very close. It also made my son very protective, and very concerned for my welfare. He's 25 going on 40 I'm a firm believer that with kids, you get back what you put in. So long as your love for them is evident, your support is unwaivering and you stay a constant in their lives, that's what you'll nurture in them. I'm sure yours are going to cherish you just as much. They're apparently just MEANT to give you some grey hairs along the way It's a small price to pay

VixenPurple In reply to midnightstouch [2007-10-31 05:30:11 +0000 UTC]

LOL the gray part OH YES definitely I already have them more and more they appear . I think divorces make it so hard on a child . But the strength you show them and the determination build a character by far . You are so right about the love and support gives them the foundation they i do not see in kids today ,and when one or two do your jaw is on the floor .

right now I'm trying to teach my boys responsibility and other attributes there are time i feel like I'm failing but I think every mom goes through that. In allot of ways he sounds like my dad and brother their tall too and big guys . but i think they also taught me not too back down when a person bigger threatens me . lol I do not know how many times my brother looked like he was going to wet himself . just by me not backing down .
I guess I'm living up the "Vixen" part of my Inter-net name .

Nothing wrong with being multi-dimensional. I think Moms sometimes forget and let the vixen part fade

As for feeling like you're failing, nothing unusual there. Most of the time it seems like they're not paying attention at all, but it's sinking in anyway

Thank you!! This was the hilight of the trip! (although the whale watching adventure a couple of days later came close! ) I never imagined that I'd lay eyes on a scene like this other than on TV, so it was a little like starring in my own National Geographic special! I turn 50 this year in December, and my son gave me a two week trip to Victoria as a gift. (2nd time he's sent me this year!) I'm still on a vacation high! Thanks so much for the fav and the lovely comment!

you are very welcome and so lucky to have visited this place.
I have a birthday in December as well however a few more years older
than you. I usually love to spend my special day in Aspen with all the
snow taking a sleigh ride through the woods. Hopefully this year I can
do it.

I'm very fortunate! Oooooooo December too? What date? Mine is the first. That's a lovely way to spend your birthday. I think a sleigh ride is the perfect way to enjoy the snow. Along with a thermos full of hot choclate (laced with Baileys Irish Cream )

I very much hope to one day. Both sets of my grandparents came to Canada originally from the Ukraine, and many aunts and uncles from Poland so my roots are in that part of the world. It's always been a dream for me to visit and learn more about my family!
