it seems that there is unwritten rule that if you are superhero/supervillain, you got to wear a cape. While in fact, it would only give you many problems than practicallity in fights (and batman, with his floor-sweeping cape, how the hell he is not been killed yet?, someone can set it on fire or use it to choke him!)but yeah, maybe the COOLNESS element plays bigger part, just like turning your back from explosion direction.
Anyway, the biggest fight this millenium! Thor vs. Automatic Door!

You see, Thor? Edna was right, no capes means you're safer! Now you have to fight the elevator before you can fight Loki!
Although I must concede that the cape does look kind of cool....if only before you get it stuck somewhere or it chokes you.
I love that Loki's so obviously fed up with waiting for Thor to get free that he's actually bored enough to consider helping out just so they can keep fighting XD

Dunno if anyone's brought it up yet, but Batman's cape was totally set on fire in Batman Begins.

It's pretty true though, capes are way less practical than should be allowed. But they just look too cool to take off, and they are absolutely amazing to run around in.
