“Now you better not hold out me lassie,” the Cinderace says in my direction. “I’ll be very cross if the one time I’m able to actually go up against a legend they simply let me win.”

“Please,” the Absol rolls their eyes, “why don’t you just demand an autograph while you’re at it. She’s not a legendary and no one in their right mind would claim that the thing she’s most well known for is her speed.”

This definitely catches my attention as it’s clear that not only do they all seem to know me as the other racers don’t even seem surprised by the conversation, though some are stealing glances at me.

“Oh, I know. She’s known for her ability to chain attack after attack in quick succession with very high precision. That’s what is obviously her most defining trait, of never allowing an opponent any time to think between attacks and she doesn’t just rely on one thing. But can you honestly tell me you’d be able to dodge three crescent class pokemon all trying to attack you while you’re injured for over a minute? Tell me that someone that can do that doesn’t have an impressive feat of speed.”

“I wasn’t fighting them all by myself,” I complain, unable to help myself, and figuring that either Lumen or Karn must have spilled the beans on that fight and that’s probably where most of this rumor came from. “At the time I was only needing to focus on not getting hit while the others whittled them down.”

“But you admit you were able to dodge three crescent class pokemon all trying to hit just you for over a minute without a single hit landing on you? And that is after having already been beaten and tired.”
