Thank you so much for the kind words!
Lol, I usually make lots of fractals on my days off, and never get around to uploading them. So this year I said I was going to post at least one a day, most M3D stuff I make is a tweak from someone else so I have to find the piece I tweaked, then the parameters, etc. Since this was a tweak of my own, it was easy to submit, but it was as easy to make. Once you get a great set of parameters, you don't have to do much. You know how to save "colors/lights"?
Here's the parameters with a map of my own (The map you can find here 458 ):

Wow...lol....and no, I have no idea how to save the colors / lights, which is a problem. I'm still so much in the learning curve of this thing, and totally outside of my usual comfort zone of UF! I really think it's astounding that I've been able to already do the kinds of images I've done in the last couple or so weeks of using the program, but I'm certainly happy about the work I've been able to do so far. I've already copy / pasted the params that you posted for the piece earlier, and am starting to just mess with the numbers in the formulas, to see what happens. That's pretty much how I do it - total experimentation, lol! I'm keeping this message of yours, and looking up the map tomorrow - it's so late at night now, I need to get ready for bed. Should have been there already, but it's been a seriously busy day, all day!
Thank you so so so much! And any help on saving the coloring / lights would be appreciated!
Hugs,
Daffodil

on the lighting tab at the very bottom is a "save" icon. Then right next to that is the drop down menu, you can save as many as you like. If I see something I like I save it, you never know when you might find the perfect fractal to use them in.
I was given hint once when I first starter tweaking. Turn the lighting to greyscale, I use the preset neutral one.
I do the sliding and playing with numbers. I found a new trick, is play with the "rotation" sliders on some of the formulas. And look at the differences between the negative values and the positive ones.
I will be here if you need any help.

Okay, I'll take a look at that today, and try experimenting with all that, though I generally don't like grayscale at all. Somehow, having some colors on the image already helps me decide if I like a particular area enough to try really zooming in on it or not. The other issue my hubby and I have found is, my anti-virus program (Kaspersky) is using up a massive amount of computer resources while I'm doing renders; gonna have to shut that thing down and make sure I'm not online while rendering at the same time, lol! I do tend to multi-task while rendering, as the process can take a while! And I've noticed that some folks use other programs to do their renders - got any suggestions or hints as to how to do that? Or should I even think about doing that? I'm having a bit of difficulty in rendering anything at the size I want in MD3 - I can tell it to do a particular size, but it will render at half that, or even less.....and I've no idea what all that's about!
Thanks so much for your help, hon - I truly appreciate it!

The grey scale will help you see those hidden spots better in the navigator. When you download some parameters I find some of lighting so bright I can see anything in the navigator, so I turn the greyscale on, when I do. The cool thing about the navigator is that you can load just formulas or lighting without messing up what you are working.
I usually do renders overnight or on another machine. There is a way to set up batch renders. I have never used it before, but maybe that will help.
You are so very welcome!

Sort of, just some parameters I played with one day, came up with about six or seven images. Thank you so much!
