i wanted to work on something for fun plus i've been meaning to draw liara t'soni since i finished playing through mass effect several months ago (great game!). and since i was going to draw a pretty girl, well, i might as well make it interesting and have her interacting with someone else, so i added ashley williams.FYI, in the game, i chose to get with liara. liara, IMHO, is much prettier (aesthetically) than ashley, plus i like her character. ashley i used as my human tank. i gave her the best heavy armor and the guns that dealt the most damage. she was my primary go-to guy in firefights. unfortunately she's the one who died when i (accidentally) left her guarding the damn bomb. so i was without my primary heavy duty fighter for the last portion of the game. liara was my constant wingman, and i would swap heavy gunners with ashley and wrex.

do you know if it was just "fan art" or really part of the magazine? sometimes readers send artwork to magazines... i'd be more upset if the magazine put it up. they should know better.

yep just pencil. i'm not very good with inks, so i developed a way to make my pencils as good as an inked piece. basically, just try to keep your paper clean, lay down clear, dark lines and mix in a little bit of photoshop. easy-peasy.

in that case, here's the specifics to help you out:
1) do thumbnails! decide how your pic should look. this will save you time and keep your final art cleaner.
2) start on the actual pic. use a 4H pencil to lay out your picture. use light strokes. just enough to see the image. rough in important detail. since its $H it should be relatively easy to erase mistakes.
3) finish the pic using an HB pencil. go over the rough layout, and use dark smooth lines. tighten up the details. imagine you are "inking" the pic but with a pencil rather than a quill or brush.
4) if you make mistakes, or you want to erase the 4h pencil, use a click eraser and a kneaded eraser.

liara will walk in on them and she'd be like, "aaawwwwkwaaaard...".
scenario 2
liara walks in, sees what's happening and says "aw HELL NO!", and takes out her blaster.
scenario 3
liara walks in, sees what's happening... and quietly leaves the room, the normandy, the planet, the galaxy, the universe...
scenario 4
laira walks in, sees what's happening and jumps into bed with them... and gets progressively more porn-like from there.
