No Problem! Not really, a few traditional flame jobs is about it. Jerome Borris is picking up most of the work. Not sure if you know or heard of him? I need to get a portfolio going & get my name out there. Plus havent painted in a while, the regular jobs been kickin my ass! How's things your way?
Sad about Jaime Rodriguez, did you ever hear what happened? a great artist lost!
Thanks for the Llama! I have to remeber how to return one.

Naa i dont think i know Jerome Borris , but i use to know a guy that went by Borris on a couple forums. Might be him. I understand where your coming from , i had competition when i started automotive airbrushing and paint, i surpassed the guy after a couple years of hard work and practice, he shut down after that. But yes horrible to hear about Jaime, from what i understood was he took his own life. Also not many people knew about this but if you go to his FB account he left a goodbye message a couple hours before his death. Just says to all my fans , supporters , family love you all ...... i havent seen anyone mention it , im not sure if people even put it together, but i noticed .....

Yeah, Borris is on KKL & Learns site. He does a lot of woody's and rust paint jobs. He works @ Excalibur towing and autobody two buildings down from me. He definately has the advantage.I had heard from a few people he's badmouthed me, but whatever.
I kind of figured it was suicide, if it was accidental or some illness someone would have brought it forward. That to me is shitty, to leave behind a family. We all have problems, some worse than others, wish he would have gotten help. Unless it was illness and couldnt get the treatment. It's all speculation on my part. It's still unfortunate.
It's been a while since I've painted so I've got to get back to the basics & scetching a lot. Practice on portraits and such till the creativity comes back. We are own worse critics.

Yea i know the asshole. Hes always been a prick !! Dont let him get you down man !! Not sure why he did what he did but what i heard was he was going to lose his shop in the mall. I use to talk to him alot 4-5 years ago, then over the years i felt we wanted different things out of the art form. He loved doing tee shirts and i wanted more. I always considered him as a friend but now that he done this i lost alot of respect for him. There is nothing in the world that should drive a person to commit suicide. Time heals all wounds no matter if his wife was unfaithful or if his business was going under, everyone goes through hard times, getting back up is what makes you stronger. One thing i don't like is his family members. They are some rotten ass people. They dont need money to bury him, they are milking everyone just cause of his name and the response they got of his death. Not only do they take money from his fans and friends but they want more and more. Theres no set amount they need, they are just taking anything and everything they can get. If they needed the money that bad, they could sell his art and it would cover the cost easily. There just rotten people. But keep hard at it man, if there's anything i can do or anything you need let me know. I have a ton of resources, tutorials, vectors, stencil kits ect... Alot are ones Mike Learn gave me from his own collections. Also i have like 30 digital issues of Airbrush Action Magazine if you want those at all. Good how tos in there. Let me know later Steel

Sorry for the late reply. I just got the latest AB mag & saw an add for donations to Jaime's family. It sounds like it was a totally fucked situation. I'm not to concerned about Jerome. The way I look at is, if he's bad mouthing me he's affraid of what I can do. I appreciate the offer and might take you up on it! I might pick your brain on how to go about pricing some time.
Once again thanks!
Nate

No problem, i live in a really small town now, and i only charge 12.00 an hour + supplies. When i lived in Fort Collins i charged 25.00 an hour. Its one of those situations where working for some money is better than working for no money and doing no art. Nothing will happen for you if your not putting work out, if your not getting exposed then how are you helping yourself ? Don't believe all the hype out there. Most of these guys talk through there asses. Theres very few airbrushers that make over 50.00 an hour. On big jobs i even resort to flat rate charging. I come up with a price i think its worth doing, and think about how long it will take and what ill be happy with for a weeks wage. Then im happy either way. I get alot of return customers. I have a competitor 60 miles away in Pueblo,Co , hes a good airbrusher , but lacks in realism/fantasy work, so his customers come out to me, and thats one thing i have going is i can do things other airbrushers cant or dont put alot of time in to, like i have. So think about that to, what you can offer he cant. Sorry for the long message.

No problem with the long message. I appreciate the advice, and I totaly agree w/ being able to cover all grounds airbrushing. just finished laying out tribal on a bike...I've never done it before, & it's a pain in the ass for me. My weakness is graphics, which i've have no choice but to work on. Because I don't want to lose customers. As far as exposure your right on that too. I just have to cut in time to keep painting.
Thanks again Mike.
