Description what would a space fighter really look like? this is one of my ideas. totally given over to function. no windows only screens. carrying alot of tech, chemicals, and weapons. rockets on all sides for true omni 3D manuvering. painted in one night for the sketch and one half day for the paint up. i'll add some astronauts outside doing repairs for scale. later. got to move on now though. its more small ship sized if your wondering

Very original concept and thoughts put into this.
Also, the execution is just marvelous! Textures and lighting is very convincing. I feel like I could just touch it and not my computer screen.

Very solid piece here! Definitely thought it was a 3D render at first. Only thing I can really say about it is maybe some decals for maybe the name of the ship or a number for the convoy it is in or something. Maybe a little fire from a rocket or too but if there are going to be astronauts outside, then I don't think it would be necessary seeing as they would be getting dragged by the ship. . . Great job!

thanks. those are good ideas and suggestions. thank you. you wouldnt have believed it was a 3d render last night if you saw it it wasnt looking very good then. i wasnt sure how i was going to approach its lighting.

Hey if something looks awesome from the beginning, you're tracing! Space lighting is kind of tricky. I have only dabbled with it a little but determining direction, intensity, and color takes some trial and error

ha! i don't think i could have said it better myself, really i think thats totally true. i did a really rough sketch first and then a much more refined sketch second and a third selected details pass sketch before painting. i decided on a two light source approach to make it interesting to look at all the angles. if i had just used one it would have been a-lot easier but much more boring. one might be more accurate though, but not if your in near orbit of a planet. the hardest part was determining the in-between lighting, where one light and the other were both weak. that led to some thinking and struggling on my part for some of the time. i suppose it would have been easy to model this ship in 3d but i would not have finished it in two days and had it look as good. good uvs take quite some time to manage if you care about something.

maybe ill post the sketches so everyone can see where this thing came from. i think i will. thanks for your reply
