Description

This artwork depicts a weapon which is a part of my sci-fi world's lore. Do not copy the design, use it in your own artworks, or claim it as your own!

Lore and Description:
KRG-7 is the first mass-produced assault rifle designed by Braxus Goranyl, the founder of Gora Vur. It is a bullpup design with a long stroke gas piston which is easily mass-produced and fairly reliable. In spite of the robustness of the internal mechanism, Goranyl's initial inexperience with firearms engineering is evident in the design, as the weapon is fairly heavy for its size and features several peculiar design choices, such as an awkward linear fire selector, a built-in ladder sight for firing rifle grenades (which requires a different kind of muzzle device to be used) and overall poor ergonomics. The model was still moderately successful, as there weren't many better options on the market at the time, and the design was later further improved and used as a basis for newer weapons, one example being the KRG-25 rifle.

Inspiration and Background Information:
The weapon is mainly based on the Groza OTs-14, which is essentially a bullpup member of the AK family. Its magazine is inspired by Type 2 AK-47 "waffle" magazine, the forward grip is based on the AKMSU's grip and the buttstock takes some inspiration from the Bulldog rifle from Metro Exodus. This is actually the second iteration of this design, the first one was called "KRG-23", but I significantly reworked it and removed the first version, as I was not happy with it.
