It is kind of annoying when someone wants you to draw them something. It's one thing if you just DECIDE to make them something, but otherwise you kind of feel pressured.

THANK YOU FOR FINALLY SAYING SOMETHING ABOUT THIS
LORD KNOWS I BITCHED IN ENOUGH CALLS ON SKYPE ABOUT IT
Cuz I mean, in addition to that one actually cool person leaving due to her free request list almost always being filled up INSTANTLY by a bunch of useless fetish art that ultimately serves no purpose, with characters that usually end up never being used for anything again (and oh yes I am mad as hell, because I remember the few times I DID get a slot in, it was for stuff like CCC or Div O, and it was usually complicated as hell and therefore great)
YOU GET PEOPLE LIKE THIS
comments.deviantart.com/1/5722β¦
SO I WOULD LIKE TO REITERATE FOR ANYONE WHO DIDN'T GET THE MESSAGE IN THE COMIC
WHEN ASKING PEOPLE FOR ART, FRIENDS OR OTHERWISE
OFFER TO PAY FIRST
AND LET THE FUCKING ARTIST DECIDE WHAT PRICE TO SET, OR WHETHER TO SET A FUCKING PRICE AT ALL
Don't just swan in and immediately assume they have nothing better to do than draw some irrelevant thing for some random person that just showed up. It's obnoxious, greedy, and frankly just plain rude.
Even if you're friends with them, at least do them the damn courtesy of offering to pay FIRST, and if the artist decides to give you a special deal, or just do it as a private request, then great!
Beyond that, I can't speak for others, but as someone currently using it as a way to earn my own money, unless you're a longtime friend, or I know you, swanning on in and saying 'hey can you draw my super special OC or something for free' is a surefire way to drive me ballistic.
Because sorry, this might be hard to grasp, but contrary to popular belief, I HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO
...
Let's be honest, after all my ranting on Skype, you knew I had to chime in here 8'D

THANK YOU
And yes, most of my commissions so far come from Germoney XD
I keep trying to branch out tho, it's slow going.

Yeah, and then when you try to answer these folk in a respectful manner, like "I'm sorry, it's not something I think I'll feel up to" or something, then they're all "It's okay, I can wait ", as if there's any hope you will do their request from the frick out of nowhere.
There is no "friendly" or "subtle" way to dissuade these guys from asking for free art. It'd be nice if they could just get the hint, but with this issue, gotta shatter their hearts on the subject then and there completely. Then laugh as they get offended you won't draw their dumb OC or whatever it was they wanted.
And the "WHEN PEOPLE BEFRIEND ARTISTS JUST TO USE THEM TO DRAW FOR THEM..."? I've actually had that happen to me recently, when someone in the Wagon asked for a prop after starting to chat with me again out of the blue, apparently not having noticed I'd put out a journal stating I would never make Walfas props again.
They haven't chatted back since a few days after, nor noticed I removed them from my contacts on Skype in that time after, I guess.

Best case scenario, if they do ask for free art of their character, just draw a huge dick. It's basically themΒ

Say, I heard you can do art. It'd be a shame if somebody requested it for free.
Yeah, we had these moments, don't we?

I feel like this is a satire of a recent event, like, say...someone who decided to leave the website because too many people were asking them for free art constantly...
*wink wink*
...that aside, how DID you do the blur effect? Was it a Radial Blur? I can never get that crap done right D;

WHY YES, I HATE WHEN THAT HAPPENS TOO, WHEN A TALENTED ARTIST ENDED UP DRAWING REQUESTS OF BAD CHARACTERS YES HATE WHEN IT'S A REAL THING.
And yeah Radial blurΒ

OOOH OOH, OR HOW ABOUT CHARACTERS THE CREATORS NEVER USED FOR ANYTHING EXCEPT FOR FETISH ART
AIN'T THAT JUST PEACHY?
what are the settings you used for the blur in this comic?

MikiBandy In reply to Kigurou-Enkou [2016-06-19 03:03:59 +0000 UTC]
OHHHH NOW THOSE ARE THE WORST KINDS OF CREATORS. DON'T YOU HATE THAT
I basically just screw around with the transparency of the blur layer Β
