Description So, looking at the dates I think June 2013 marked my sixth year of studying art seriously. I decided it would be fun to mark the occasion by putting all of the work I've ever put online into an archive I could share with you guys, to sort of expose all the ugly shit that goes behind anything even remotely successful I've ever made.

[link] Download link!

Now I'm still a long way from where I want to be and I'm more eager and excited than ever to keep on putting out as much work as I can, but it can be an incredibly positive experience to take a moment to look back on the journey you've taken so far. Maybe a lot of you guys know me from back in the CA.org days and maybe some of you don't, but I used to regularly update a sketchbook thread on there, starting at age 14 with the encouragement of a few badass artists who decided to help motivate me and keep me on the right track. Somehow I got lucky and stuck with it and this body of work is the result of that decision.

Looking at the work from the first year is a weirdly motivating experience, if I had known back then just HOW MUCH I didn't know, I wonder if I could have even found the willpower to stick with it. It just goes to show how important it is to be present and enjoy the learning experience and just stick with it!

Anyway, at risk of getting super cliche, keep killing it everyone, keep putting yourselves out there and keep grinding away, hope you can get something from this. No matte how much time passes I still feel like a complete beginner in the grand scheme of things and this whole thing is only just starting. Share your own progress too let's see it!

That's a really cool stuff, i wish more artists shared something like you did. it's like walking to the house of a stranger, seeing bits of the beginning of a relationship with the house and how comfortable people are now (sorry if it sounds creppy, haha).
I just skimmed through the folders, but will look more carefully later. sometimes sketches are much more interesting than complete illustrations.
thank you again for this
p.s. wonder, if you plan to update this archive years later?

Thanks for putting this up!
It's very encouraging seeing someone else's progress.

This might be totally unfair but it also made me appreciate your work even more, because to be honest you weren't really that good in year one (well, you were 14, I was still tracing stuff at 14 hehehe). And now the quality of your work is awesome.
Very inspiring stuff man.

I have a question! An important one!

I've watched several progress archives of various artists and none, NONE of them contained pictures about studying perspective. You rarely see horizontal line and vanishing points in their scetches and all that junk, especially in studying human body.

They say perspective is very important, and I still find puzzling to apply hard perspective measurment to some tricky human pose yet it seems as if most artists do not trouble themselves with such things, even while studying.

Soooo... hard perspective studies remain behind the stage and usualy are not put in these archives or am I missing something out?

Hot damn, you truly have come a long, LONG way in just six short years. 8O

Seeing your progress is really encouraging!

And although seeing your progress does make me feel like a mere beginner, I'll have to keep in mind that I've been actively working on building my skills only half as long as you have so I've got only myself to blame for not being better. But gosh, now I feel like I really could do it if I put more effort into getting better!Β

But yes, man you're one skilled artist and I'm glad I've had the chance to follow your work the past couple of years and see how you've been growing as an artist. c: I can't wait to see how you'll progress in the future!

The thing that confuses me the most right now is probably lighting and anatomy. I picked up learning anatomy about a month ago or something and though I'm not completely oblivious anymore, there's just so much I don't know. Looking at your work it gives me the impression you really know the location of each muscle. ._. Also, gesture drawings are really hard for me to do for some reason.

Downloading the archive right now, by the way. Hopefully it'll inspire me! Sometimes I forget to look back but even in the little time I've been doing art, I have improved. And you've been doing this for six years. And me? 9 months. I should really try to understand that time does go into it. A lot of time. It's weird but whenever I learn something new it sort of feels like it just "clicks" to me instead of reading it somewhere.
