M4's aren't as big as people think they are. I'm relatively built, and I make mine look like a toy. It could also have something to do with the fact that the six-position stock is collapsed on the shortest length. They do that so they can keep the rifle closer to their body for room and building clearing.

Anyone who dislikes this is a russian who is jealous that the US fought the taliban longer than they did.

at least the Russians fought them first. they saw the threat of Islamic extremism before anyone. and you know what America did at that time? they gave weapons to the Mujahedin. the Russians would have won were it not for America's game-changing support for the Afghans.
and finally it took 9/11 to wake you guys up.

Check out the flag. Backwards and in the wrong colors.
๐: 0 โฉ: 2
chris-stahl In reply to deus-ex-machina [2011-03-04 01:04:11 +0000 UTC]
It's backwards due to the direction in which the Soldier travels. It's meant to represent that the flag is "flying" from the staff that is the Soldier's arm as they move ever forwards, never back. The flag is an infrared flag which allows other Soldiers using NVGs (night vision goggles) to more easily spot the Soldiers during low-light and night combat.

Were you referring to the militia's defending the terrorist interests or the village militias actually assisting the allied forces?
๐: 0 โฉ: 1
NezoElyk In reply to DHRussell [2011-03-03 06:44:30 +0000 UTC]
Ok, maybe my statement may be a bit contradictory: I don't support terrorism in any way at all, but(!) wouldn't it be more interesting to take photo shots of the militias defending whatever they are defending, instead of glorifying American soldiers that intervenes the lands of others.

DHRussell In reply to NezoElyk [2011-03-13 12:01:40 +0000 UTC]
I can see where you're coming from on that one. It would be fascinating to be able to have photos from both sides of any conflict, this one included. They're very rare things in any war in history. At the least, I would personally like to see coverage of militias fighting oppressive groups like that Taliban, even those who just fight to protect their own little village, not protecting UN interests but their own way of life. To me, that's something worth capturing on film.

ReXspec In reply to NezoElyk [2011-03-03 14:36:57 +0000 UTC]
Do not mistake the Taliban with the Mujahadin, Northern Alliance, and ANA Militia. The Taliban were by no means, the legitimate rulers of Afghanistan. They were a tyrannical gaggle of cut-throats and traitors that brought the Afghan people to heel and overthrew the Mujahadin and siezed power when the Northern Alliance scattered after Al Qaeda terrorists killed key leaders in the Northern Alliance.
So if you are looking for heroes in the country I fought in, don't look for it in the wrong places--and definately don't bring the Taliban down to the level of tribal militias or the ANA, which simply want to defend their land.
